WHAT METER TO BUY ?

   / WHAT METER TO BUY ? #21
i know its too late, but worked in electronics for over 30 years, used meters that cost thousands of dollars to $3 each: unless your measuring frequency, capacitance, inductance or some of them other things i am trying to forget about: get a cheap digital meter: the best one i have found was $13 in the auto section of WalMart: but i only found it at one WM store..so i bought a couple extras, for when i drop it..or run over it, or forget where i left it!!!

My overall favorite is a Simpson 260, but they are pricey, go to WM.

To say it again, what are you doing with this meter that you need a higher priced meter ?
Simpson, Fluke and others are good meters and fit a particular field of use but general use which most of us do, doesn’t call for big bucks DMM nor ones that record all of the info we get from our daily use. Keep it simple...

Less expensive meters are better in the tool box, if they get broken then you buy another.

I have been doing Autotype 12v electrical and minor electronics (HAM Radio) with a Craftsmen Units for years, no problem, no blow ups, great meters.
