TYM USA T450
I just purchased a TYM 450, new, from a dealer in NV. It took me nearly 6 months to get the means to bring the machine home, and during that time, the dealer put 15 hours on the machine for some reason.. however that is not important. What is, however, is that the manuals are missing, and the rear end dip stick is dry - The 3 point hitch does not work, but the back hoe does... What oil should I put in the rear??

Is that dealer still around? If they are, they should be sending you replacement fluid and manuals via FedEx! Delivering a tractor with low fluids and no manuals is just wrong.

I don't know much about the TYM's except that the engines on those units are made by Kubota - but I don't know if that has anything to do with the hydraulic system. In a pinch, I'd hazard a guess that Kubotas Tractor Fluid should do the trick - it can be used in just about everything out there from what I hear.

If the 3pt doesn't work but the backhoe does, then I'll bet you have a backhoe with a pto-driven fluid pump and self contained fluid system. I wouldn't run the 3pt or other hydraulics until you get some fluid in there...

Thank you for the reply.

I got some fluid into it - it took over 2 gallons to show on the dipstick. The 3 point still does nothing, so I need to find a dealer somewhere locally. I do not expect to pay $27K for a new tractor and not have it working. The TYM USA main company replied with a helpful email, but the dealer I bought from was copied by the main company, and sent me a none too friendly email, saying that I had told them not to service it, and that I already had the manuals.

It sounds like it may have been used as a demo while it was still on the lot, it would concern me that the hydraulics had been used without enough fluid, possibly harming the pump. The Mahindra 10 series are TYM machines. Is there a Mahindra dealer that would be willing to look at it? It would be at your expense but, it might get you off to a clean start.

The 3pt probably won't work until you get the fluid all circulated through it. I'm not sure what the procedure is on that tractor, but often you need to cycle it a few times to get the fluid back to where it needs to be.

I'm curious to hear how you like the tractor otherwise. I was really interested in getting a TYM 580 at one point, and also looked at the 450. Seemed like a darn nice tractor for the money.

I will be taking it to a dealer in the next couple of weeks, to have it completely checked. If any damage to anything has occured, I will be dealing with that swiftly.

Other than the fluid, and 3 point problems, the tractor is amazing - everything I have asked it to do, so far, it has done with no grumble, no problems and no strange noises. I have been using the back hoe, and the loader quite extensively in the last 3 days, and love the way it runs, the shuttle gear is the best thing I have ever encountered, and moving trailers around with the loader under the goosehitch is the most useful way to move anything. It is comfortable, you can sit in it all day long, with no discomfort, so I recommend it to anyone. The TYM T450, with loader and back hoe, is a perfect machine for a small holding, or large home ground.
