Been looking for cheap sweatshirts and pants. Kind of my winter gear for most things. Comfy to sleep in too. Got my last batch from Dollar General, but they don't show any stock yet this year. Figured I'd try my old standby, KMart. Used to buy all kinds of stuff there. No more local stores, but the website is still up. Not sure why though. Every variation, no matter the size or color or style shows 'unavailable to ship'.

I know we've talked about that before, Sears(KMart), the first real shop at home store, now all but a bad memory. Can somebody just put it out of our misery once and for all?

Most cheap clothing like that just pills. You need at least something with a brand name. Last stuff I got years ago at TSC on clearance. Nice to find quality stuff cheap at thrift stores but that's so hit and miss and now with this mask non-sense!

My pet peeve is finding comfortable underware. Soft cotton briefs with no labels. I don't need a wasteband with writing on it like the sign in times square!

I've had too many cheap sweatshirt, pants - "Pill" or fall apart or both. It might be OK for daytime wear - not so great for sleeping in. I've gone the other way - American Giant, Eddie Bauer, REI, Land's End, LL Bean.

These will last and YOU will wear them out before they become unwearable.

speaking of underwear.....

This is the best time of the year, imho. It supposed to be warm, dry, sunny, low humidity and so far, other than the 2-3 tropical storms, it's been a nice fall.

Butt, at this time of year, I start the day with the long underwear on, take a nice long dog walk, coffee and a couple short chores and it's time to take the long underwear off, but first the coat, then the boots, etcetc

Funny, I will put it off until it's way too warm but it's such a PITA.

Life is tuff, huh?

Not everyone has a Costco nearby, and I'd imagine many more find the membership cost to be more than any potential savings. Ditto for Sam's club, BJ's, etc.

Well, I sleep in my birthday suit so that doesn't matter. There is a chain here in New England called Ocean State Job Lot, kind of cross between a discount store and an overstock store. I'll get sweatpants/shirts there...they generally run between $5-8, and seem to stand up pretty well. By the time they start to pill they're pretty much grub clothes anyway.

This isn't really about the sweats. I'll find them somewhere, some day.

More just another thread lamenting the loss of a once ubiquitous retailer, largely due to incredibly poor management. They totally blew the introduction of web shopping. Given what they were in the 60s, 70s and 80s, they should be the Amazon of the web now.

The subject (Sears & Roebuck) comes up in every thread (ad nauseam) about retailers good or bad...the subject (primarily Sears) is the poster child for former catalog/brick & mortar retailers that were unable to make the transformation into Internet sales...
To most it should have been a no brainer...moving from mail order (catalog) to online sales...at one time Sears was the "Amazon" of catalog sales...
it didn't happen...been discussed on TBN about as much as green versus orange...
