After two months of waiting for a Woods RB600 rear blade, my dealer finally contacted me with an update on my order. It seems that Woods had just informed him that they stopped production of that blade. Quite a surprise, since they had confirmed a production date of 7/21 when the order was placed in June /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif!!

The news came as a big disappointment. I was really looking forward to getting the RB600, it had a 360 degree angle adjustment that would have been nice. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

In any case, I was hoping someone could recommend a good rear blade to use in conjunction with a L3010. I am looking for a 72" width, somewhere in the 300-400 pound range. Ideally, one which allows 360 degree adjustment. Any suggestions/recommendations would be welcome.

Thanks for the help. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

p.s. I just upgraded from a L245DT to the L3010HST and think I've died and gone to heaven /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif. After much tossing and turning about which transmission to buy, my experience to date confirms that anything other than a HST would have been a huge mistake.

Rhino makes a very similar set of rear blades to Woods and they are readily available at many dealers. Be kinda careful that your owners manual recommends the size you are buying as a blade used in dirt can put a tremendous load on the 3 point. Used in snow, it really doesn't matter what size.

I agree with Wen, the Rhino blades are real nice. I would not expect you to have any problems with a 6' blade. I use the same size on my little B21. In my case, my dealer made the point that anything smaller would not give enough off set to clean ditches well. I was looking at 5' blades but am glad I went larger. The 5' blade would have put me to much on the edge for the ditch work I do.

Congratulations on the new tractor. I'll bet you are one happy camper about now./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Monroe TufLine makes a good blade. Their website is http://www.monroetufline.com. You can call them at 800.537.5943 or email them to find a dealer in your area. I have a TufLine grader blade, box blade, and disk and am satisfied with this equipment. Their grader blade is reversable and can be offset. They also have a hydraulic grader blade.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll be checking into the Rhino and Monroe blades shortly.

I picked the 6' blade width because it's the same width as I had on my L245DT. I figured that if the 245 could handle it, there shouldn't be a problem with the L3010. According to discussions I had with the dealership, a 400-500 pound blded shouldn't be a problem for the 3010's 3-point hitch. Seems like a lot of weight to me. My old 6' blade only weighed around 200 pounds, although there were many times I wished it had been heavier.

Even though the L3010 has only 5 horsepower more than my old L245DT, it feels much more powerful and stable. No doubt partly due to the increased width and weight. I am hoping that tranlates through to blade usage also.

Thanks again /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

My tractor recommends a 7 ft blade, but I bought a Heavy Duty 8 ft blade. It weighs about 650#. It is not the weight of the blade as much as the distance the weight is cantilevered behind the tractor. I swing it around towards the tractor 45 degrees and lower it to the first notch tilted down to dig ditches. You have to really watch what you are doing as you can certainly tear up your tractor if you get a long blade hung on a rock. You also do not have much control over the blade as the 3 point can move around quite a bit, particularly up and down and relative to each arm, so when the blade digs in, you need to have it set for how deep you want it to go.

I like a good box blade better for most applications, but the box blade won't dig ditches.

I think a 6ft will be too small for a 3010. I'm getting a 7ft for an L2500 (although I only plan on using it for snow removal). My 3pt is rated for 900lbs so the 3010 has to be higher than that. The lift weight should not be a problem but keep in mind that you lose width as you angle the blade and a 6footer at 45 deg I don't think would even cover your tires. I would go with the 7 and if needed just take smaller bites.

Yeah, but don't accidently hang the end of the blade on an immovable object as the torque generated can break a lot of stuff on your tractor. That is why manufacturers do not recommend that large a blade on that small of a tractor. Just drive slow and watch what you are doing. It is not the weight of the blade, but the moment you can put on the 3 point with a longer blade.

I have to take exception to the comment that box blades will not dig ditches. Don't tell by JD790 and Bushhog 5' box blade that. I tilt the box blade to the max, drop the two teeth on the lower side and go at it. Yes, I need to stop and dump the box ever so often, and come back and clean up the piles of dirt, but the box also keeps the dirt from spreading all over the driveway. I know, forget about using it to move snow. I though about making some hydraulic lower 3 point adjustible bars that would permit angling attachments, but that's another project.

I concur with your point concerning a 7' blade for 45 degree use. My problem is that my L245 w/6' blade just fit through wooded areas I normally have to work in (hence my 6' selection for the L3010). Although.....your suggestion has me thinking.

Thanks for the note.
