Just curious as to what other TC hydro operators run for RPMs for various tasks. After my TC35D went in for it's tranny recall/repair, it doesn't seem to have the same umphh at the same rpms. I generally don't like to run it much upwards of 2000rpms -- too much noise and just seems too fast. After the repair, it just seems to not have the same power it had at 1200 or so rpms. Any thoughts on mowing, moving snow or general FEL work in terms of RPMs??

The guy who does my backhoe work (2120, std, w/Woods 9000) never has to rev up beyond 1200 or so when using the hoe or moving stuff around in the FEL! Just feels like anything over 1500 on my machine is loud and "revving".

Seems like there was thread about this some time ago but I can't find it.

On most tach's there is a speed marked as the rated speed for pto work, to have the necessary pto speed to operate your mower effectivly you need to run the engine at least at this speed. When using a loader I usually run the engine at about the same rpm's. By doing this the loader works faster.

I don't care for any more noise than is absolutely necessary, but for PTO powered implements (mowers and tiller in my case), I run it on up to the PTO rpm (2584). However, for most loader work, about 2200 rpm.

I run my blower and MMM at 2500rpm.

For the blower, if it's not run fast enough, it tends to clog and, of course, bog down.

For the MMM, if it's not run fast enough, you get a lousy cut.

With my TC33D, I run 2500 or so (to get 540 PTO speed) when mowing. sometimes when brush hogging where I don't mind a shaggy cut I'll slow down a couple hundred RPMs.

With the Box Blade, I run 1800, and go up to 2000 or 2200 if I'm doing heavier work.

Remember, that 2120 has few extra HP on you, and a 4 cylinder engine. He probably doesn't have to crank it up as high to get the HP required for the job. (2120 is rated 42.6 HP at 2500 RPM, your TC35 is rated 35 HP at 2600)

Howdy!

I'll have to check my manuals when I get home, but I believe the 7308 says not operate past the 1700-2000RPM range.

Something about too much RPM creates too much flow for the loader cylinders and can damage them.

For the most part, I run at about 2000RPM for loader work, which is 75% of my jobs. When I'm "brush hogging," I just rev her up until the "540" light shows up on the dash.

On occasion, should I have a real load in the bucket [big rocks] or need to use the bucket to help my back up an incline, I'll rev it up beyond 2000RPM, but on my lil' 29D, that seems to be the sweet spot with enough torque rise to get the job done.

Best Regards,
Jay

Hey, as usual, thanks for all the great input re: my RPMs question. I guess my main concern was/is that my TC35 simply doesn't seem to have the same "drive" power as it did before it went in for the tranny recall.

I guess I am also realizing that, although I wouldn't trade the hydro for anything (more sore joints days than not!), I sometimes wish I could more easily control engine speed via a foot pedal (as on manual models) and rev it up only when needed. My 2120 guy uses it basically as a "gas pedal" and runs so much more quietly and economically than I! Seems somehow ineffecient to have the engine revved up to 2000 virtually the whole time you are working when you are really only needing that HP a small portion of the time!!
Thanks again for the input.
