Just got my new CT235 a couple of weeks ago. Trying to figure out what to get first. I'm wanting to end up with a Rake, Box Blade and either a Flail or Finish Mower. I'm thinking a 7' (84") Rake, 6' (72") Box Blade and 72" mower. I've been looking a King Kutter for the Rake and BB. Any suggestions?

I just purchased the CT230. I am running a 72" Land Pride Finish mower. It works great. You can't even tell the mower is back there. I got the finish mower off Craigslist. I actually posted a WTB, and got 3 responses. I ended up with one that has been used but maintained very well, at a price the third of a new one. Now I just need to get a Brush hog( or flail mower), rear blade, tiller, cultivator, rake, plow, log splitter, and chipper. Darn, what a wish list!

All attachements have (or should) specs that show the required tractor/PTO hp range. For example, for my New Holland 72" flail mower (model 918H - H for heavyduty), the required min PTO hp is 30 and the max is 70 according to New Holland catalog. I pull it with 37 hp Ford (1973 2000 series) and it does OK, but not great. The tractor has 3 x 2 (hi & lo) manual trans. I can only use 1st and 2nd gear in lo range. Also, the type of terrain is affects the required HP.

84" rake is fine. 72" box blade is going to be to big in my opinion. It may be alright if you get a med-light duty, but then the lighter blades don't work as well. I would be looking at either a 66" or a 60" heavy duty box blade. A 72" mower will work for you also as long as you stay with the flail of finish.

Something to have in mind is a hydraulic top link, just about a necessity in my book, makes working with a box blade soooo much better. ;)

Good luck with your purchases.
