Any suggestions on size of a rear blade for a TC24D? I ordered a Woods RB72 with the tractor and am still waiting for delivery. One of the guys at the dealer said it is a good match, the other said the RB60 would be better. I will be using it for everything from light trenching, grading gravel road and driveway, to clearing smaller amounts of snow from the road and driveway. On a 45 degree setting, the 72 will make about a 55 inch swath, the 60 will cover the tire track. I also am trying to keep the tractor as light as possible due to my soft ground, so I did not load the tires and will leave the blade on the back for weight when I need it. Both have the same features as far as tilt and angle settings. About the only problem I see is manuvering around tight spots with a wider blade hanging off the back, but it does give another 40 pounds.

Dealer has them both in stock and cost is almost the same, I just need to let them know which one I want before they load everything for delivery.

I would go with the largest blade that could be put on your 3ph and rotated past the rear tires.
My Kubota B2190 allows me to use a Land Pride RB3572

This may be a heavier duty blade than the Woods you are looking at.

I use the RB72 on my TC18. It will clear the rear tires so I can spin it 360 deg. The blade is heavy, if you have any hills it will lift the front end off the ground. I recommend as much front weight as you can get. I have 160 lb's on the front and both front tires loaded, another 70 lb's. Before I added the liquid in the front tires the front end would still come off the ground while going up hill. It is an extremely well built blade. I have used mine for two years and even moved all the snow we had last year with it ( over 25" ). I use it on 1100' of gravel driveway. I did buy the skid shoes for it another $160, but it is well worth it to keep the gravel in the driveway.

Solo,

Do you have an FEL? That weighs another 900+ pounds according to the NH specs, and the tractor weighs about 300 pounds more than the TC18. Of course, the distribution of all that weight is what matters. I never thought about it being too heavy for the tractor. Maybe I should wait until the tractor comes in and try both in the dealers yard before making a final decision. Thanks for the input, this is why I ask so many questions!

No, I don't have an FEL. I think that trying the RB60 would be a good idea, if you are going to run without the FEL. I do like the RB72. With the FEL you would be alright.

I would question the 72" blade choice. I have a 60" blade on my TC24D with R4 tires and I have stopped the tractor in its tracks too many times to count.

So the question is WHAT do you want to move with that blade?

In my case I'm moving a bunch of 20 to 50 pound granite cobbles and if you grab too many the tractor simply won't move. I have not tried this tractor/blade combo in the snow, so I don't know what that will do there. I have also stuck the tractor in heavy clay with the blade.

So I would say if you have heavy work, 60" is a maximum. If you are dragging or doing light work, 72" would probably work?
