After breaking 11 tines on my 4' tiller, I decided it would be a good idea to use a plow to break new ground. What size plow would be appropriate for a 1500d?
depends size of plow, type of soil, depth desired to plow ...etc.
I will let you know that nothing more than a one bottom plow will likely be usable unless you have real soft "muck" or peat type soil. You will also likely want a fair amount of extra weight on your front end in order to make that 4WD usable traction. Have you considered a harrow or disc if you don't need to go too deep?
I use a 2-bottom old Fergusen plow on my JD4300 and can bogg it down if I don't really watch the draft closely. The 1500 is half the HP of the 4300 so you will have to watch depth of plowing/draft very closely to keep forward motion going. Let us know what you do...

I would recommend that you borrow or rent a SINGLE BOTTOM plow before investing any $$$$'s. Plowing is not easy on you or your equipment. Single bottom is all your tractor will pull.
I broke the tines trying to till ground that has rocks. The ground has a lot of clay in it. I was considering a disc, but this land has a lot of hedge. I figured a plow would plow under the hedge, then I could till. Could I pull a 14" single bottom plow, or smaller?
RK 55HC,ym1700, NH7610S, Ford 8N, 2N, NAA, 660, 850 x2, 541, 950, 941D, 951, 2000, 3000, 4000, 4600, 5000, 740, IH 'C' 'H', CUB, John Deere 'B', allis 'G', case VAC
Look at it like this.. a 27 hp ford N weighting about 2500# is rated to pull a single 16 or (2) 12's or (2) 14's It has the benefit of draft control.
I guess if you went with a light cut a 14 may perform.. but I'd think a 12 would be easier and give a better finish with less work... perhaps someone else with a 1500 and a plow will chime in. For all i know.. it may pull a 14 fine. Old cubs and allice chalmes G pull a single bottom or disc plow and they are 9-10 hp....
Maybee you wouls do better with a middle buster or potator plow with those rocks.. then disc it up?
I thought about a middle buster...I saw one at TSC, but the plow doesn't look sturdy enough. Hopefully, someone that has this tractor and plow will chime in.
With a lot of hedge (small I hope) I would use a set of bush and bog disc. A single set with six or eight diskcand a lot of weight on the disc. the scalloped disk will cut the hedge pretty well. Then a root rake to remove the chopped up hedge and some of the rocks.
I've used a 3 tine chissel plow on my buddies JD 4100(20hp) 4x4 in the past and it worked like a charm, your tractor is a little smaller so it may take more passes. It will stop the tractor or stand it up, so you have pay attention. I planted a couple of good gardens (about 10" deep) here in the rocky Georgia clay with it, the tiller would do a nice job of fluffing it afterwards.
