What size plow for 4100?

Hi,

I've got a HST 4100 and want to buy a 3pt plow for working my garden. I'm looking at used plows and I see one and two bottoms, 10, 12 and 14 inch. Is there anyone out there that can comment on what would be a good match for my tractor?

I'll be plowing in sandy loam soil and I have turf tires.

Should I be looking at 1 or 2 bottom? 10, 12, or 14 inch? I've seen different brands for sale such as Ford, Dearborn, Ferguson, etc. and notices the moldboards seem to have different shape to them. Is brand going to matter or just size?

Ihave a 4300 (35 hp) and tried to use a ford 2x14 plow. I had interference with the beam hitting the right hand lift arm. I also was short on power and traction' I found a 1x14 plow that was made different and it worked fine. I think you will have to forget about a two bottom plow with a 4100. when setting up any plow the draft alignment is critical. The right rear tire and front tire must run in the furrow. If the plow is set to far to the left you will be trying to plow more than the size of the share.. Also after 50 years of John Deeres you do not compare compact tractor horsepower with the old 2 cyl farm tractors. Russ

Attached is a picture of my 20" disc hillers I used to make raised rows with my 4010.

Think it would pull these paired up in parallel mode in sandy loam soil. My only doubt about doing it would be the attachments for the disc hiller shanks. They might eventually come loose; however, they didn't while doing 20 rows in my garden.
