I Have a NH work master 55 it is 11.25 feet long. What size trailer do I need if I want to pull it with a FEL attached and a bush hog. I have a 7ft wide land pride bush hog. I can't find lengths on FEL and on Bush Hog so I can get an overall length Thanks in advance.

According to Tractor Data dot COM it shows the tractor alone at:

length to be 133.5 (which is 11.125 feet)
weight of 4078 if it is 4 wheel drive

To get an actual length may I suggest that you hook up the bush hog and have your loader on and then measure the length that way.

Without seeing your BH, I would assume that you would be good with a 22 footer or more.

Thinking the BH has got to be 6 foot off the back of the tractor and then the loader & bucket have to add 3 or 4 feet on the front you may be at about 21 feet long. Just estimating mind you.

And the weight, you could be around 5500 with the loader & bh on it and then if the tires are loaded add for that.

So a 22 footer or longer that will have a at least a 10k rating (depending on the empty weight of the trailer) or maybe even a 14k trailer.

You might find the length of the BH on LP's site here: Land Pride Single Deck Rotary*Cutters (If you know the model you have)

and the couple I looked at were longer than 6 foot

if the tractor is 11+ feet by itself, I think you can safely figure another 5' of fel, depending on if you curl the bucket for loading. If that 7' mower is a rough cut, like you state it is.. then it will be 7' plus tail wheel, figure 9' ... 7' rough mowers are usually single spindle, and thus lon, and heavy...

I wouldn't attempt to haul that machine as configured without a 25' trailer. A GN with a 20' deck plus 5' beavertail or some combination of the same like a 25+2 dove.. 28' straight with fold over ramps.. etc..e tc. This will likely be a 14k tankem.. though you could find it in a 21k tri axle, or if you have the extra cash, go for a 20k dual tandem, even if you tag it for less weight. ( depends on your area for what is leagal for tagging, weight and GVCWR )...

PS.. that's a good amount of iron, thus you need a good towing vehicle. I don't think I'd attempt it with a 3/4 ton.. 1 ton would feel much better...IMHO

here's a pic of kinda what I'm talking about.

so.. he says he has a 7' hog, and you are thinking it is 6'??

folded space right?

if it's a rough cut mower.. most I see are single spindle.. that mens if it cuts 7;' wide.. then it is 7' long, of deck, PLUS tailwheel(s)

I guess I took it as 7 feet wide, not long....

and I guessed it would be at least 6 foot long off the back of the tractor....repeat....estimated..and/or guessed

if it's 7' wide, and has a single spindle.. guess how long the deck has to be :)

same with a 5' or 6' mower. deck has to be at LEAST as long as it is wide for single spindle mowers.. then you have a tail wheel sticking out.

if it was a dual spindle mower.. like a common 8' or 10' then what you have is really more like 2 side by side 4' or 5' mowers. IE.. a 8' wide dual spindle mower might only be 5' - 6' long.. 10' wide dual spindle mower might only be 6'-7' long

single spindle is the hangup. also.. remember where the tractors measurements are.. and there will be almost no overlap at the 3pt linkup to the mower, perhaps inches at best.. so however long hte mower is, directly adds to the total length.

again.. no folded space.. ;) when giving a user advice on buying a trailer.. don't estimate short. would be a bummer to buy a 22' trailer when ya really needed 25 :(

10 minutes with a rolling wheel, or long tape will tell him what his minimum , on deck, lenght will be. IE.. bucket curled, edge straight down.. etc.

I would hook everything up and then measure it. You will want a trailer 4' or so longer than the load to allow for proper securing of it and balance.

As far as weight the tractor is 4,100# with non loaded tires. Add 1,000# for the FEL and maybe 1,200# for the Bush Hog. That brings you to 6,300#. I would call it 6,500#. A 10,000# rated trailer is going to be needed. The trailer itself is going to weigh 2,500# so that leaves a honest 7,500# for cargo or a 1,000# to spare with your load.

Some of the new 1/2 tons such as the Toyota Tundra and F-150 can handle this for occasional use but if its a everyday thing I would get a diesel 1 ton SRW truck. I do not care for 3/4 ton trucks. Dont get me wrong I have had 2 of them but there is just not much difference the last 10 years or so with the new 1/2 tons that have closed the gap.

I will head over to the land this weekend and hook it up and measure it. Just thought I would see if someone here might have that setup and let me know. My land and tractor are not where I live thus the question on the board. Thanks for the help. I am pulling with 1 ton diesel.

They get long quick with all the stuff. You need to consider ramp type also. Stand up ramps or fold up ramps do not allow any overhang. Which in most states its allowed to have 4' of overhang as long as its flagged. Any more is a ticketable fine.

I personally like slide in ramps for maximum flexibility.

Soundguy has it.

My TC35D with loader and a 6' Bush Hog has less than 2' left in front of the bucket on my 20'+5' GN. That's with the shredder wheel even with the tail of the trailer and the bucket flat. I could go with a 20' trailer and lay the bucket on top of the GN, but that would be a heck of a lot of tongue weight, even on my F350.

Edited to add: I have to lift the bucket and pull all the way to the front of the trailer, then flip over the ramps, then back up to position the tractor for hauling.
