What spare parts are a good idea to keep on hand?

Hard to say on a modern machine, So many little things can bring a machine to a stop.

On an older machine, I might have said a starter motor.

Long story short, just get an extra machine of each type so you have all the parts you need. :laughing:

The items I need most often are lift and pins to connect equipment with. The different type and size of retainer pins to keep those pins in place. Just like where is the trailer hit pin? I also use my about 10 foot chain as it fits easy on machine for pulling what ever.

I keep extra pins in my tractor tool box, my truck tool box and more in a plastic box at my house. I think every time I go to TSC to buy a pin, I get 2 or 3. On the oil and fluid, make sure the label does not fall off. I mostly want things for general maintenance, so I can at least start a day. Like it was said, they only way to have everything is to have a extra tractor. But I don't make my living off of it.

Once you get about 100 hours on new machines they shouldn't need anything except routine maintenance. I'm going through about a case of grease cartridges every 50 hours or so just for my E42, I would keep five or six cases of grease on hand. I grease my E42 every 10 hours or so. If I'm using it all day, I grease daily.

The hoses on my old Kubota L2900 lasted for well over 10 years before I had to replace them. Lift cylinders lasted 15 years before they needed new seals.
