What spray-on lining for RTV bed?

I want to get my RTV bed lined, but want a spray-on rather than drop-in. I talked to a Ziebart guy and he told me that Ziebart lining was softer than, for example, Linex (not sure how to spell that one - have only heard the name).

One Kubota dealer recommended Linex, but that might have been because they have a shop a few miles away from him.

I think there's another brand called Rhino (?).

Want a tough liner. Might want to haul rocks sometime (grin).

walmart i think it's called duro liner it's about 42.00 bucks a gallon and a gallon is all you will need . i friend put it in his pickup truck and it's toughand well worth it. i plan on putin it on my hpx . i put the srpay on one from walmart and it held up pretty good i haul alot of bricks and logs and i have a few scratches. but the rollon one goes on really thick and looks great. i drop the bricks and logs into my hpx bed after all its not a toy right. but it holds up great.but if you get a profesional sprayon liner it might cost you 3 times as much. why pay the money for something you can do youself?and with the money you save you could get an extra gallon and roll some on your floor boards and underbody.

I've used Ziebart and Rhino liner both with good success. I've heard good things about Line-X, but have not used it. If you want, I can attach pictures, but the stuff you can buy at AutoZone, Walmart etc. that is sprayed in or rolled in is nothing more than thick paint. I applied enough of that product in the small bed of the RTV that should have (according to the instructions) been enough for a full sized long bed pickup. It provides minimal if any protection.

I bought a drop in bed liner to put over the roll in cheapo liner I put in but ended up not liking the drop in liner. So, I bit the bullet and paid to have the cheap junk I applied removed and a Rhino Liner brand spray liner put in. The roll in liner ends up being a few hundredths of an inch thick as compared to 3/8 of an inch for the Rhino Liner.

If you have a scratched up bed that you want to look better before you sell, go ahead and put in the cheap roll on liner. If you want protection, use one of the companies you mentioned or get a drop in liner. And, I know where you can get a Kubota brand drop in liner for an RTV really cheap!

that roll on liner has fiber like material in it and it is atleast a 1/4 '' thick.and if needed you can apply it as thick as you want to.but i would like to see pictures of your finished product dargo.it might come in handy helping others.or to show others what a bed liner looks like. but as for the best i think rhino would be the best i think it's the one with the sand paper like finish.

Just like Dargo I am a big fan of the spray on 2-part Epoxy bed liners. RhinoLiner, Line-X, and Ziebart are all 2-part Epoxy sprays and they are very nice products. Any one of them will work well for you but you may have some preference of the feel/texture of one over another brand. If you have a compressor you can buy 2-part Epoxy that is similar to the big brand names. The cost is about $100 for enough to do a short bed pick up, but you will incure a few hours of your own labor. So it is a trade off.

A 2-part epoxy product is actually a multi-part product. It has the epoxy components that you mix together, these create a chemical reaction and form the medium that you are spraying. There are also rubber granuals that you can optionally mix in, these typically come in 3 different 'grits' from 'fine' providing a fairly smooth surface to 'course' which provides for more "grip" to the surface.

Roll in liner products are paint. Nothing more. Some are paint with grit. Some are paint with fiber. But they are paint. No matter how they dress it up, paint is paint. Herculiner is probably the most widely known of the paint type products, I've never heard of anything good about this type of product.

I admit that I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart and support the communist Chinese government, but that aside, I am not familiar with that brand. For $42 it would be paint. Perhaps expensive paint & thick paint, but just paint.

I have Linex on 16 foot trailer and it is very hard and durable, but is more likely for stuff to move around (very little). If I was planning on hauling rocks in my RTV this is what I would use, plus it is the only liner that comes with a nation wide guarantee. I have Rhino liner in the floor board and bed of my RTV it is softer and rubbery feeling and there is no moving around of tools or gas cans, but I never plan on hauling rocks either. I hated the vinyl floor liner that comes installed on the RTV, it traps water and dirt under it and will cause it to rust IMHO. If I was going to have the bed lined I would have an estimate on how much more to also do the floor board. I love how easy the floor board cleans now with a water hose. Liner applicators can vary the texture of their products to meet your needs if you tell them how you plan on using your bed. The custom liners are best, but like everything they also cost more. Dealer location and reputation would also be high on my list, because most custom liner products are very good.

What I've been told by dealers so far:

Ziebart -- softer liner, but local dealer (25 miles, but that's my closest).
Line-X -- harder and thinner, also slicker (80 miles or so)
Rhino -- maybe between the other two in character (not sure where closest dealer is)

Hadn't thought of having floorboard sprayed. Sounds like a great idea, but not sure how to get RTV to dealer. Was planning to remove bed and take that on a trailer (not big enough for vehicle). If it sounds good enough, would be willing to rent a trailer. That would keep me from having to take the bed off, too!!!!

Oh, doesn't a panel come off the floor where the drivers feet rest? Liner might make that impossible. Don't know how necessary that is, though. I just put in turn signals and directions said to remove two panels there. I ignored that and just crawled underneath. Simpler and worked fine. There might be other repairs, though, where that wouldn't work. What do you think?

Want to hunt down a Rhino dealer and talk to them first. By the way, both Ziebart and Line-X want about $200 for bed only. Not objecting to price; quality of job and durability are primary concerns.

Hey, I had my floor board and the fender well humps (where your feet are) done as well. I really like that much better than the original vinyl mat. My question though, what did you do with the big square hole where the diff lock is? I didn't realize the hole was that big until I removed the vinyl liner and had Rhino Liner put in.

I sprayed my RTV with Perma-Tech liner. I chose Perma-Tech because I sell them at my Truck Accessory store and love the product. The low pressure products end up a little softer then the other systems and tend to cushion the bed a little better. They also keep things from sliding very well. I hauled loads of rocks in my unit to line my drive way. These field rocks range from baseball size to football size. After dumping many many loads there is no damage to the liner. Many Perma-Tech dealers like myself have the ability to spray colors other that back and can mix custom colors. I went with Kubota Gray and it looks real nice. I also pulled the floor mats out and sprayed the floorboard and firewall under the dash. To fill the holes in the floorboard you just simply put a very small piece of tape over the hole before you spray. Now when I wash my RTV, water and mud don't get under the mat.
