Mahinda 7520
A friend of mine needs a tractor, and I'm encouraging him to look at Mahindra. I have a 7520 and love it. His budget is a little less, so he's looking in the 50hp range. No cab necessary, no frills, just a solid, productive machine.

If you have recommendations and know the price, will you include those too please? He would be interested in a FEL and backhoe as well.

Thanks!

I'd get a 5035 with the FEL. It's BH capable as well.
W/FEL, my 2010 ran me $26K, 0 down, 0 APR.
NewGuyInNewEngland just bought one as well. Check the
previous threads or PM him for what he paid.

The 5035 with the 595 bachoe is a nice machine, it is Mahindras largest compact, that would be my choice but depends on what he wants to do with the machine. He could jump up to the 5530 w/ a 511 hoe if he wants to get into a larger utility chasis and large hoe.

Mine is a 2008 Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto, 2WD, gear tranny 8F/2R, power steering) with the ML250 FEL (6-ft wide bucket, 2950 lb lift to 10.5 ft height, skid steer adapter on the FEL arms), triple rear hydraulic remotes. Cost: about $19K new. The 5525 definitely is a no-frills machine--tough, heavy (6000 lb with the FEL, over 6500 lb with loaded rear tires), sheet metal. It's loud and sounds like a mean diesel should sound. Running the engine at pto rpm (about 1900 rpm), it burns about 1 gal/hr.

My vote goes to the 5525, solid, heavy, proven design and much less expensive. Hope he enjoy's what ever he decides on.

Hello JR,

Been working the 5035 and she is a beast and a beauty. I have put on 10 hours and feel right at home on her. I went the cash route as my dealer is a great guy but kinda small, low volume and was honest about what happens with the financing (dealer takes a hit and usually has to jack up the price to compensate), so he gave me his best price cash price on my 2010 leftover, $25399.00 with the FEL, (before the guvna gets his share), cleaned up and delivered. Wish I did this years ago, but glad I waited as the 5035 is perfect for my needs.

FYI. Unless your friend has knee problems, get the manual tranny. It shifts smooth, less stuff to go wrong (although the way mine is built, I doubt that would be an issue) and you save some serious $.

Best of luck to your friend and his decision.
:cool2:

I'm on my 2nd Mahindra. Now own a 5530. 1st was a 5005. Went to 5530 because needed 4wd on my hills. Both were reliable except for minor issues. I have recommended them to friends and neighbors who also bought. Just make sure your dealer doesnt go out of business soon after you buy one. Then you are stuck with issues which should be under warranty. Now they have longer warranty than when I purchased my 5530 3 yrs ago. The paint job is not worthy of price on either of mine. My first one was repainted, the 2nd I am stuck with a pink tractor because of a worthless short term dealer.
