What to do with old brush hog?

I've got a 6foot light duty brush hog/rotary cutter. I'm not sure on the brand. It is grey but not real heavy duty. I've had it three years and the gearbox is good, no leaks, no noises. The PTO shaft is also good. However the frame is bent up badly and the the hub that the blades bolt to is cracked badly. This thing is obviously unsafe to use and I have decided to scrap it out. Could or should I do anything with the gearbox and pto shaft? Would I stand much chance of selling the gearbox?

I sure wouldn't junk the gearbox and pto shaft. Sell them at a minimum or keep them as backups for the next one. Can't have too many extra pto shafts can you?

I would list it for sale on Craigs List. Just be honest with what is wrong with it.

How simple would it be to build a metal box to surround your parts ? You have everything else. Besides what are the parts worth vs a new bush hog ? Get with the program and have some metal cut. You will have a next to new machine or alot more money in the left back pocket if you decide to sell.

Fix it to a point and use it as the first in on heavy brush.
