Is there something in common use that stops the snow sticking to the snow plow blade?
If not specifically any suggestions?

This is a much debated topic. There will be all kinds of "witches brew" recommended with assured declarations of success. Good luck.

If snow conditions are right,,,, or wrong as it would be,,,, you will get snow buildup on your blade or V plow. I've even stopped and beat it all off. Only to have it built back up within a few minutes of running. I'm talking big equipment. Your results might vary...... :)

I had that problem on a snow back when I was back home on the farm. My mom came out and sprayed the blade with Pam, It worked for a while, don't remember how long, it was about 35 years ago. Ed

I've had pretty good luck with a couple coats of wax. And start with a cold blade.

I think with small equipment the cold blade trick probly works the best. I use my 2210 to blade my driveway which is about 100yds long. Might be out there 20 minutes at the very most. I get by with a warm blade. My shop temp is always 60 or above. By the time I quit my blade is still warm enough to melt off.

Depends on the snow type - wet, dry, packed, drifted etc. There is no one solution unless you line the plow surface with poly or UHMW (ultra high molecular polyethylene) which will prevent snow of most sorts from sticking. Wax and lubricants are temporary solutions but do work.

I have heard of people using fluid film to keep snow from sticking to blades and snow blower chutes. I have not tried it out since snow sticking is not a problem for me.

Man, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that white stuff any more. (Spent a lot of years in the Ohio snow belt.) Had a little frost on the vehicles day before yesterday. Yesterday and today it was in the 70s.

I think if you could figure out some way to coat the blade with a film of silicone, that might do it. Otherwise, invent a heated blade so that the snow melts from it pretty.

Most suggestions will work for a short while.Rust is your enemy as snow will stick to that rusty surface.
I spray paint B4 storing every spring with whatever rattle can is handy and since adopting that procedure sticking is minimal.
Rust will not form in cold but sure does in hot humid conditions.
Snow/ice will stick to that rusty surface but not to a slick shiny metal.
Waxes, oils, pam, all work but only for a short time.
A HDPE (plastic) surface helps but at a cost.
A slick surface like Teflon would be best but then it needs to be abrasion resistant, (sand grit etc) but while slick Teflon is very soft.
When I was heavily into aviation we used HDPE (often referred to as Teflon but actually high density polyetheline) and t hat worked just great on the ski bottoms. We would rivet skins to the bottom of the skis.
Teflon, while slick is poorly resistant to abrasion.
Polyurethane however does meet the requirements but how to apply? generally it wants to be baked on to be resistant. (not a paint but poly sheeting)
