Buying Advice What tractor is right for me.

2.5 achers mostly flat
1 must be John Deere any year any make
2 must be good for snow blowing
3 must be 60 inch deck or bigger

Honestly I like all the small ad dons but will likely only use the mower, trailer bagging system, and snow blower.

This is a funny situation for me. I'm building a new house and don't have a limited budget for the tractor. However I want this thing to be around with lots of love and care for the next 30 years. I like the x758 a lot but do I need it?

The better question is, how can I not need it:laughing::laughing::laughing:.

I lived on 5-8 acre lots around Beaver Dam, Wisconsin my whole life almost, and for the last 20 years or so had 2 wd diesel JDs and the current one is a X740. I had a 3 pt hitch put on and that made the tractor a whole lot more useful.

They are tough, will blow snow galore with a couple sets of wheel weights or suitcase weights on, has a 62" deck and will mow that size yard quickly. A 4 wd will be nicer at getting through muddy places, but I never had a problem because I ran chains on mine quite a bit. Even the 2 wd with that size deck can go around trees very easily.

They are great for rototilling, blading, snowblowing and mowing.

The only thing lacking is that it is not a big tractor with a front end loader. But, if you are a home owner that needs to jocky trailers around and do normal household man sized chores, it would be perfect.

Is there another John Deere that would fit 62" deck and blow snow well? The wife wants to spend under 10 for the tractor and the blower. Personally I think I should go with my gut and get the x758 and not look back. Can you guys think of any other options?

If you are looking for a brand new one with a blower, $10,000 won't do it especially a 4 WD. As I stated before, a 2 wheel drive will do everything well. That is cheaper right there.

You can get a good used one for a whole lot less. Tractor and blower for 5-6000 I would bet. Any large frame John Deere garden tractor will take that 62" deck.
Even at $5-6000 you will get a nice tractor with only a few hundred hours..
