What tranny\'s are in a Ford 7710 II

I am looking at a Ford 7710 series II and wonder what trannys this model tractors had? I think this one has dual power as the dealer doesn't know for sure and I have very little experience with this model as I am use to older tractors with simple 1-4 shifters and if lucky a high-low.

Any issues with this tractor?

I know this board is geared towards smaller machines but I am hoping our dealer friends can help enlighten me about this model. So far I hear a lot of people say good things about the 7710 and hopefully I will luck out on it.

It has just under 5k hours and the dealer wants $13,900. Thanks

Re: What tranny\'s are in a Ford 7710 II

I just read the responses at Machinery Talk, you got very good info there. I would make sure the air conditioner works, and verify whether it has been converted to 134 refrigerant. AC repairs on older tractors are spendy, especially if using OEM parts. The Tecumseh rotary compressor is obsolete requiring a Sanden conversion which is very expensive. Be sure there are a sufficient number of remote valves for your needs. The tractor has a dual pump open center system which uses closed center remote valves. Not a bad system, but a little different, and spendy to add valves. See if you can get the seller to plug a flow meter into a remote valve and verify the hitch will work with the remote stroked. PM me if you need to.

Thanks, there are three remotes on the back, one set looks like it is piped back there. I asked the dealer about the AC and he assured me it worked. I am going to give everything a good once over before I commit. This dealer also has a 30 day warranty and I should find out if anything isn't working in that amount of time. I will ask about the flow meter test as well and make sure all is working there.

Here is a pic of the rear of the tractor. You can see two sets of remotes on the right that look factory, the third set I noticed in the pic as I didn't have much time to inspect the tractor while I was up there.

Re: What tranny\'s are in a Ford 7710 II

The couplers on the left are probably NOT connected to a typical remote valve. They are more likely for an "auxiliary services" connection, which is basically a power beyond connection, or maybe a Load Monitor cylinder connection. Although I don't think late 10 series tractors offered Load Monitor. Not a bad looking rig, all in all.

Thanks, I was wondering about them. Currently I do not need more then two sets of remotes but the third set might be handy in the future. I will look into the third set and hopefully learn something. Thanks again Rick. Take care.

The third set of couplers is for the load monitor. The motor has been replaced recently and we tossed her on the dyno and she is putting out 110hp. All that is left to do is to sign the paper work. Thanks
