Honestly, I don't worry too much about this stuff. I remember back in the 80s when the big scare was unleaded gas. Everyone thought the engines would melt and armageddon (sp?) was coming. Yet today we have the best running engines ever. After the initial bugs are worked out, all these new emissions controls will be a non issue. Sometimes it takes a while, but technology really does come through.

I just don't want to buy an engine during the "a while" period. It's kinda hard to know when that ends.

Unfortunately I think there will be a constant stream of EPA forced changes for a long time.

Personally, I don't like the EPA forced turbo chargers that I have.

The DEF might not be a terrible thing. From what I've heard on the pickup trucks, it improves fuel economy because it lets them remove some of the other EPA mandated junk. Cost per mile has actually come down with DEF. Just what I've heard, I don't know, I plan to stick with what I have.
