I would like to determine the 2006 original cost of my Kubota L48 TLB.
I am trying to estimate the depreciation ---just for fun.
Mine has a few handy gadgets.

In addition to the standard Kubota quick attach loader bucket it has the following:

3rd function,..... + diverter (for hydraulic QA loader bucket)
3 rear remotes.
Hydraulic thumb.
QA hoe bucket
Horn

Original cost - 2006 - estimates anyone?

Sorry I don't know if I have any old magazines. I would be interested to see a high hour L48 and a high hour JD 110 and see which machine WAS the better bet. Which was more reliable and cheaper to operate? Which, has fewer troubles today?

I think the Kubota has earned the better reliability. The 110 had a lot of problems. Now a 310 is a rock solid machine.

The 310 is a construction machine. The 110 is mostly a 4000 series tractor and was some weird (and failed) project. I was looking at both machines back around 2000 and just wonder, in hindsight, which machine was better.

From Western Farm Press:

"With a suggested list price of $32,300 for the L48TL and $43,000 for the L48TLB, Kubota is betting the 48 horsepower utility tractors will find a niche among farmers, small construction firms and rental operators." (Jan 20, 2001)

Ah Ha.... Thank you very much!

Now I will add on some estimated costs for the 3rd function, QA diverter, 3 remotes, QA hoe bucket, and hyd. thumb, and estimate the total delivered cost (I will deduct 15% from list price).
What I hope to do is come up with an estimated % depreciation comparison between my last June purchased 2006 L48 TLB, and my just purchased Mercedes E350 used car price.
I will try to adjust for age difference, and hour/miles usage difference.
For what it is worth: Before actually playing a bit more carefully with the numbers, my rough estimate is, that over comparable time, the L48 TLB has lost about 28% of it's value (I paid $32K in June), while the Mercedes E350 (younger, but adjusted to attempt to equal age/use comparison) will have lost 84% of it's value.

I no longer have a wife, but if you do, and she wants a new car, you might explain that a new tractor is one he11 of a lot better investment.
Teach her to drive the tractor,...... then.... she could drive it to the grocery store, and on from there to her hair appointment!
What more could she possibly need?

Perhaps I should become a tractor sales person?

My wife wants a new car and wants to learn how to drive the tractor so I will suggest we trade the 2015 Outback for a new L47! Ha doubt that will happen!

I bought the B21 new in 2000 for $24500 and list was $27 I think and today, with 620 hours and always stored inside, it's probably worth $15K plus minus. So a 40% depreciation over 20 years.

On the other hand we bought a 2004 Lexus LS430 17K mi in 2006 for $39K, which had depreciated nearly 50% in the first two years, and today its maybe worth $8K so, in 15 years 12% of new or 88% depreciation.

Tractors do hold their value partially due to inflation ($25K in 2000 is $37K adjusted to inflation) and price increases over time.

When I traded in BX, 10 years old and 800 hours more or less, it was worth about 60% of its original cost.

YOUR suggestion sounds perfect to me!
Go to Chappell.....certainly they will be able to accommodate your "needs"!
