Hi guys, I just looked at a L35, I was told it's a 2003,but when I pressed him, he told me he wasn't sure..

Any idea where I can look up serial numbers and figure out the year? I'll buy it if it is a 2003.

I wrote down the serial number of the tractor, the loader, and the b/hoe. I didn't write down the engine serial number.

Thanks for any help at all.

imho more important would be the hours on it, and if it is a private owner, businees owner or how it was used.

I hear ya Frank. It's got just over a thousand hours, everything's tight, some minor bruises, all in all okay. Just don't want to buy a 1999 or 2000 thinking otherwise..:D

Call your local dealer or maybe ask one the Kubota dealers on here and give them the number and they'll be able to tell you what year it is.

My year 2000 is s/n 8403120. Call a dealer near you and talk to the service department. They know which s/n's were produced in which years. There is an identification plate under the right-side hood, which is very easy to remove. I don't recall but it might have date of manufacture on it there too.

Not sure what you are planning to use it for, but it's one heck of a machine. Got mine last year with 980 hours on it. I consider that as very low hours, but always recommend a mechanic check-out for anyone buying from a 3rd party.

Thanks for reply DsmanPadge:)

Hi SLOBuds; While I was checking this one out I came accross another one. A 2004 L35 with 271 hrs, has QA FEL and QA backhoe buckets (2 bh buckets) comes with front remotes with joystick pushbutton control, a softside cab with heater, a snow pusher bucket and a rear tiller for the same price as the other one. I'm a mechanic and it looks great!.. so I bought it.:D
Now to get it home, about 360 miles.

IRWIN: I would check the prior life of the L-35 before purchase. It may have been in a "destruction derby," (RENTAL YARD) early in it's life? It is one tough tractor, that should have been painted yellow. However, if the one you are looking at has spent it's early years in a rental yard, I would run, not walk away, unless you want to do the "wrenching?" If the price is right, it still maybe a good deal?

To me, the year is meaningless, because of the quality of Kubota tractors. The sheet metal is like "boiler plate," and if the bruises are there, that maybe your first indication of an abusive life?

I purchased my L-35 in Sept. '95, and it has been absolutely trouble free since new. It has done a lot of hard work, but I don't abuse it.

The L-35 were so popular then, one was forced to pay nearly list price, while waiting on a buyers list too, in Northern California.

This isn't the tractor from the title of this thread, it's a whole nuther package, it's a for sure "2004" with 272 hrs, was owned by a landscape company that didn't have the jobs to keep it busy. They got tired of it sitting inside the shop and I got a good deal.

I'm a happy camper guys!! This is one lightly used machine, it's set up perfect. QA bucket front and QA Backhoe buckets (2), a softside cab, a tiller is part of the deal, and no dings or dents to speak of.

The only attachment I need will be a grapple and it's already set up for one, got front remotes and joystick mounted pushbutton control. Heck it's even got a heater for those cold snow days.

It's clean, It's been taken care of, and now it's MINE!
