Robert as you well know that "ain't" no FORD just the same color those F--- Parts are small and high!!!! Trade Him your 7710 and few bales of Hay and everyone will be happy what's coast to coast freight costing these days with that "cheap" fuel price.

I won't be happy trading the 7710 (I have to get it back first to do that trade) as then I will have the same issues as the OP for haying. Of course if I kept the few bales of hay I could trade them to the tire dealer for some bigger rubber for the back and be back to what I already have;)

It is kind of hard to justify being paid for fluids as that is a common maintenance item.

What parts did you have to buy if you don't mind my asking?

Also, have you talked to any dealers about what they would give you on trade for the tractor you are looking for? It never hurts to ask.

The fluid is something that I changed when I got the tractor. I know that its hard to justify but I like to include 'all' costs...

A few of the more expensive parts that I bought were:

The upper 3pt adjustable arm.
Bottom seat cushion.
Yoke for the lower 3pt locking bar.
Seat sensor.
Joystick and cables for the remotes. Thankfully, I already had the other 2 remotes! They just weren't hooked up...
And the rest were smaller stuff like one light lens, the rubber boots that go over the shifters, the little red button for the parking brake. Just little things that add up. After I said I had $1800 in parts. I went back through the receipts and $250 of it was not related to the tractor and I have $200 in fluids.... So I'm at about $1350 not including those two costs.

I haven't asked a dealer what he would give in trade.. I'm probably going to the dealer this afternoon for some parts for my bale wagon. Would they give me a price without seeing the tractor? Also, they might not take me too seriously with me only being 18......

You can ask them. If they know your tractor or the history of the tractor they can usually give you a ball park price for trade value. And if they don't give you the time of day because of your age then go to Deere or Case-IH and buy a different color.

My local dealer has never seen my TN65. I always get my parts through them so I am in their system. I have to go there today because the pto shaft on my bale wagon is too short. I would push the drawbar in to get by but the bearings fell out so I'm looking at replacing the shaft. NH wants around $550 for a new 'NH' one. They have some generics around and they are telling me that they might be able to switch the yokes. If they can't, I'm thinking about getting a generic shaft, adapter and machining the adapter to fit... I can't see myself buying a pto shaft that costs the same as what I bought the entire bale wagon for.......

I can't speak for what things should cost/be worth, but I started out looking at new TC40's. Bought a used TN55S (cab and supersteer, 4wd, loader, R4's) for ~ the smae $ instead (used though). Same trans as yours (with power shift). Sure like the cab, but if you are just going to be mowing and haying you can buy a lower tech tractor -- which ought to save you some cash (or be able to buy a lower hours unit). Might be less maintance costs in the long run as well. With the change in the economy, you might be able to make a deal somewhere (JD has a couple of models with big discounts for 1/4 horse association members -- look up the horse group web site).

I haven't hayed before (or ever), though it is something I am curious about (acreage dreams). The 8 speed trans seems a bit restrictive compared to the 12 or 16 speed units (not as versatile). Just my thoughts. And yes, 2wd is a lot less $$$. If you get a cab, you will pretty much need A/C (keeps you more alert and in the cab longer) as the glass collects a lot of heat (should you be tempted to buy a model without it).
