Whats a used 14k 20' trailer worth?

Have not yet seen it in person, but I saw an ad in the paper for a 20' 14k kaufman equipment trailer with around 1000 miles on it for $2400.

If the tires look like it really only has 1000 miles on it, with no damage other then the usual paint dings, I'm thinking this might be a deal. I was gonna order a new 22'er, but for a $1200 difference I might go used. I only plan to put around 1000 miles/year on it anyway. Deal or no deal?

Anything in particular to check on a used trailer?

Other than the lights- you may want to look underneath and behind the wheels for any grease- that may indicate a bad seal

If it was me- I would repack the bearings as soon as possible

I think its a deal but take cash and try to get them down to say $2000. If not walk and leave your number. 9 times out of 10 they will call you within 10 minutes. Meet them halfway at $2200 and you both win.

Plan on putting tires and a new battery on it along with repacking the bearings.

I would spend a few minutes looking on craigslist. I know at least with goosenecks the prices in North Carolina are dirt cheap. Seems like prices are 1000-2000 less than comparable trailers in Va.

Look at the battery, (does it actually have one in the box), is the wiring on the battery actually connected? Is it missing any of those parts and pieces?

What do the tires look like. 4 new tires can get expensive pretty quick. Does it have a spare?

What does the wiring look like?

Do the ramps work like they're supposed too?

$2400 for a 14,000lb rated trailer that can actually be used with little or no work sounds like a good deal to me.
