Whats everybody paying for propane

Just got the tank refilled. $600 for 250 gallons...thats 2.40 a gallon !! We got back home last Saturday night from going to Knoxville for the day. Told the wife...house sure feels cold ! Sure enough the tank was empty...UGH. Called the propane people....seems the driver was on his way to fill on Friday but he ran out. It was late in the day so he figured we had enough until he came back on Saturday. He came first thing Sunday morning ! Luckily we have a good fireplace as the temps were in the teens at night. Had to do a pioneer night with a wood fire. They were down a truck and a driver...so things were backing up. Living in the mtns makes it hard for drivers on the steep winding roads. So...with the extra cold winter this year be sure to check your tank more often !

I pay about 2.00-2.40$/gallon in the summer and prices can get abit higher than 4.00$/gallon in the peak of winter...

And I have a 500 gallon tank.. might look to upgrade to a 1000 gallon since I rather save money yearly, but I'll be adding a hot water heater (maybe instant) and a couple other goodies later on that will increase overall year round consumption.

Big issue here is that the companies size your tank so you fill up frequently (that's how they make their money)..

My tanks down to 30% and I think I'll wait until it's at 15 to call them in, so roughly in about 3 weeks from now at the current consumption...

i pre bought 400 gallons for 1.29 back in the summer.Im on my last fill up of prebuy and I know its went up here but not sure how much.i try to do the prebuy every year because propane around here is a lot cheaper in the summer.

My last fill was on 11/30/2017, I paid $2.96 a gallon. We lease that tank which is 200 gallons, and they only fill it to roughly 80%. That bill was $446.96 for 151 gallons...not cheap...

$2.09/gal Monday, their 500 gal tank. Superior Energy, just bought our local gas company. Part of Delaware Valley group.

FYI, we pd $1.01 per gal in early November 2017.

I'm at $1.949, but my contract is about to be up at the end of this month. My propane company is very fair, no price gouging, and generally gives a price break for those of us who burn a lot. I have to call them to see what their current pricing is, not like I have a choice but to pay it though.

Company before the current one was gouging us at $2.80x/gal. Then tried randomly billing us at $3.25/gal. We burn about 1000 gallons/yr, I called them that day and told them to come get their tanks. Hoping that I'll have my own in ground tank this summer.



As a followup to the bad company- they left their tanks sitting in my yard for 2 months. I called them and told them that "somehow" their tanks had made it down to the curb on the main road on which I live. They were gone that day. Go figure...

We just paid $1.49/gal last week for a full fill on 2 500 gal tanks. That was cash price, which saved us 10 cents a gal.

I paid 2.29 /gallon in December. Use it only for hot water and get it (500 gallon tank) topped off once a year.
