I believe there is an exception to this for companies you have done business with, much like there are exceptions for charities, political calls, etc.

I am registered still get a t least 10 calls a week. I just put them on block. Now AT&T has a new app that seems to help reduce the calls by 75%. The gov remedy does not work.

Companies you have done business with can call you, UNTIL YOU TELL THEM TO STOP.
The Do Not Call does not stop the scammers, but a letter from the FTC will get that dealership to leave you alone.

Last week I checked my list of calls by looking at my call history. During a few days time, I received 30 calls. 26 of them were bogus. I am on the do not call list.

Only 86.67% bogus calls?? Most folks average well over 90% bogus calls so you are doin' better than average!! A call blocker is about the only way to improve that situation.

House phone, no blocker available. Cell phone is much more tolerable.
A friend of mine is the GM at a Ford dealer. These days, dealers are pretty sophisticated, they don't wait for you to decide to go car shopping, they call you to come in. They have a dedicated call room where 3-4 people work the phones 40 hrs a week, calling past customers, internet inquiry, past cold deals and friends or family.

'do not call' rules are useless. I do not even answer our home phone between about 5-8pm it is so bad. I do not answer my cell phone if I don't recognize the number.
Got a call on my cell phone a few years ago at 11:30am on a Sunday, in a small southern city. Guess where I was? It was on buzz but I got up and left the sanctuary to answer it. It was from India asking me to subscribe to the local paper. The editor lives down the street from me and is a friend of mine. I gave him a hard time about outsourced marketers trying to sell his little local newspaper to people in church on a Sunday morning.
