Can anyone venture a guess as to what previously mounted part was removed from this Daedong 27 horse engine? It looks like it was once mounted above what I think is the intake manifold. Two bolts held whatever it was in place. I noticed this after the tractor (Farmtrac 270) was returned to me from 50-hour service performed by the dealer. You can clearly see that the engine was painted prior to the part being removed. I can’t say for sure if the part was present or not when I first took ownership. Obviously something was there at some point.

Thanks in advance.

Too close, too big to tell, but might have been a rear view mirror which you never had, used in Asia, but not US. Back off and keep pic to about 200-300 kb and can tell more about it.

A couple of shots from further away. New with the camera and related software. Hope I was able to reduce pic size appropriately. The two threaded holes are spaced exactly 2" apart on center.

Is that a mounting point on the intake manifold? Here are some pictures of a Mahindra 3510 with the Daedong engine. On mine, it is a mounting point for the throttle cables. The rear most cable (left) is for the hand throttle and the other is for the foot throttle. Hope this helps.

On my Mahindra with the Daedong 3A139A-DY1 engine the coolant overflow bottle is mounted on a bracket that bolts there.

Well, turns out that is how the two on my lot look also. The only difference is that the two on my lot have a black piece of tape on them so there is no "exposed" surface. You probably had the same thing but then it got washed/taken off somehow. Nothing to worry about.

Could be where they mount a "lifting lug" at the factory.
Then after the engine is bolted in, different companies use it for different things.
With all of the tractors mentioned, none are Kioti's.
Which means the engine would be delivered to the final assembly point on a skid.
An easy way of lifting it would be needed.

Possibly the mounting places for the engine brackets that they used to hang the engine from while painting and assembling?

I have no idea what was or is supposed to be there. But it might be a good spot to mount a lunch box to keep the soup warm when fall comes.
