My fuel line became disconnected (heavy brush pulled it off!) and now its back on I want to ensure it's free of air. The tractor runs fine but with the ignition on, engine off there is chatter from the area of the fuel filter. If I remember right it used to do this for a few seconds then stop. Is the electrical component below the filter a fuel shut off solenoid? Why is it chattering? Thanks for any help.

If its a diesel and you don't have automatic prime...you need to reprime the fuel line from the tank to the injectors...as per your operator's manual

It is a diesel and the manual is a joke! It says remove air. The filter housing has what looks like bleeder screws so I will try that. It runs well so I'm guessing it does self prime. Does anyone know where the lift pump is on this tractor. Is it really that puny thing below the filter?

I think so. Mine makes that chattering noise for as long as I leave the ignition on without starting the engine. I assumed that's normal and I just can't hear it when the engine is running.

If it's running ok and has been for a while then you don't have air in the lines between the high pressure pump and injectors. If you got air in those high pressure lines it doesn't take long for the injectors to stop working. The normal way to bleed those lines is to crack the fittings on the injectors loose and run the engine. The manual says to crank it with the throttle open all the way.

Thanks all for the help. I guess I will leave it alone while it's stilll running good! Still really like this machine and very happy to have joined this forum.
