SWMBO mentioned she would like a "small truck" as an alternative vehicle to her 2004 Civic Hybrid. My F350 duallie w/ 7.3 is too big for her.
And she wants a Ford because that's the only local dealer.
Ford makes the Transit, which might do, but a Ranger size would be ideal.
Coincidentally there's a local government that sells their used Rangers at auction.
The last 10 of them went for between $3,500 to $4,500 with mileage between 60K and 120K, all 2WD 2.3L gas, most with decent tires. Years between 2002 and 2007. Regular cab, white, w/ a/c. All running, just being dumped because the departments got replacements.
If I got one she and I would probably put less than 2,000 miles per year on it.
What does the TBN group mind think of the Ranger as a "grocery" hauler that would let SWMBO also haul small bulky items like chairs, tables, the occasional "big box" like a microwave. The things get loaded by the stores or her relatives and unloaded by me, it's just that they don't fit in the Civic or VW easily.
