What's the general opinion on the Ford Rangers?

I had an extended cab 4 x 4 with the 6 cyl. Was a real gas hog.
Auto locking hubs stopped working and replacement was very costly.
Front rotors had ABS built in and that was $$$. as you could not separate the ABS due to corrosion.
While fun to drive i was very disappointed overall.

Actually other than the battery (labeled Ford) the rest is all pure Mazda and while Mazda parts would fit (and cheaper) there is no cross reference.

I have the Mazda version (same truck, different badge on the grill), '04, 2.3L, 2wd. Bought it new when I had three kids learning to drive. The truck now has just under 100k and has been flawless. My biggest complaint is that I didn't get a 4wd.

I have a 93 4x4 with over 200K and a 94 2wd with just 50K on it. Both manuals. They are good small trucks. If you can do the work yourself, they are easy to work on. Parts are cheap.

Mine is a 2wd on a 4wd drive frame. The mileage is ok but it rides way too stiff to suit me. Maybe I should change the shocks.

I can't speak to the NA version of the Ranger. The one sold here in Aus looks to be a full size ute.

What I do know is that the commercials here feature an attention-grabbing brunette!

I have a 03 4x4 ranger with the 4.0 engine not my favorite truck.its light in the backend you can tell in the snow the ride is not smooth as my Chevy 250 but it's my #2 truck now and that's good.
