Check valve in the middle.

Allows flow from left to right, and blocks flow from right to left.

That valve will allow oil to go one direction but not the other direction.

Yes, usually this arrangement is for mounting directly on a hyd motor to prevent the motor from reversing direction

G'day they are commonly used as stated in a motor circuit and are there to allow the motor to run down when you release the control lever so the pump doesn't have a sudden stop much nicer on the motor, seals and lines

ty so if i understand -it helps to prevent the hydrolic "hammer" with an abrupt stop and would be good to install directly on my hydrolic pump ? and so everything would be fed from it ? just confused on where it would install on the hydrolic system on a case/ingersoll 6018 -

Jon hit it. They are tipically used for allowing a motor to spin down with the rotating mass on something like a snowblower. It allows the motor to turn into a pump for a short time so it does not "lock" in place when the control valve is put into the center position. A motor spool in the control valve does basically the same thing but will allow a load to drop in the center pos. so a check valve is put in place when using a cylinder spool. That serves no purpose on a pump but goes on the implement most of the time. Pretty cool, you can still see the check indicator on the side! CJ
