As usual the debate and questions continue over scuts, cuts, and which one should I get. From the BX, 2305, GC, and TZ to the cuts of each model the question continues on which is best for someone's particular situation.

I've read where some think the Kubota 2620 is too heavy to mow with as well as the Kioti CK20. Others are finish mowing with much larger machines. For someone who maintains a fairly neat lawn, how heavy is too heavy, or is there really such a thing in the compacts? Does it depend on your soil? I understand the larger machines and obstacles and the ease of the smaller tractors but just talking weight and is their a general weight that would be accepted (1500lbs?) for routine lawn care?

How much acreage? What's the use of the land you're mowing? Personal, commercial etc? With those questions answered it would be easier to determine what's too heavy.

Our NHT2220 only weights about 250 lbs more than our old 9N/2N. But it has the R4 tires that are easier on turf that rear Ag tires and the skinny front tires. I think ours is about 2800 lbs.

Now it does not leave a foot print like the 2n did so far, in fact I was pulling snow on wet ground and it was not digging up the yard. I would say that as long as your yard was dry or not too wet you would be ok in this weight range of tractor for mowing.

We mainly got this one for mowing and the dealer said that he had a few customers using this size with no problems. Hope this helps.

as long as the yard is dry, you'll be ok

I mow with a l3400 with ags and loaded tires. About 3300 lbs with the mower on. I do not notice and rutting, as long as its dry. I have clay type soil so that helps too.

It's personal, 7 acres and about 5 to mow. It's where we'll be building, we really like a nice yard, flower beds, etc. Thinking about a zero turn and just an older tractor with a FEL for getting firewood etc.

I use a zero turn around the house, garage, shed, fence and trees we planted:rolleyes: The rest is bushhog zone. For planned obsticales a good zero turn is faster honestly(personal opinion). Don't forget you will likely add things to the property down the road that will also have to be mowed around.

I mow 7 - 8 of my 11 acres with the 3320 & Woods RFM in my sig. It has loaded rear tires and the loader frames stays on the tractor when I mow. With that setup I have about 3k for the weight of the tractor, plus 600 for the RimGuard in the tires, plus around 800 for the loader frame, and plus 700 for the weight of the mower deck. With that I'm cutting at just over 5K and I don't encounter a problem with marks or such. My previous cutting machine was a IH Cub w/ a 59" Woods belly mower and that wasn't even past 2k.

Heck, I'm thinking about using my 10,000 lbs. Posi-track with a 6 foot flail. Very low psi until I turn, but hey I'm out of the sun and a/c.
