I love the specs on the tractor and everyone seems to think highly of them but what's up with the rear ag tire size? I know it's typical of the equipment you see over seas but do any dealers offer to mount a little bit bigger tire? I know the little skinnys will work just fine but I think I would like a little more flotation. Not only that and not that it matters but the tractor would look like a real tractor if they were bigger. I would like see the same size as the R4 option. I know that size ag tire may be too much for the little 4025 transmission but is that all that keeps someone from mounting wider tires? What size rear rim do they come with?

Oh yeah, I have read that brochure several times.

I was wondering what the rim sizes are. Specifically the rear rim width?

On a 4WD tractor you can not change the rear tire size without changing the front tire size. You have to keep the same rolling circumference ratio front to rear.

I would just want a wider tire, not any taller. Does Mahindra publish any specs for over run on their 4x4 tractors? I know 5% is a good rule of thumb but if I could get exact specs that would be nice. Surely there is room for another half to one inch taller tire on the rear? If not I guess I will be looking at 4 new tires. I would just like more flotation. I think a 14.9x24 on the rear would fit my wants and needs. Its the same rolling circumference as the 12.4x28 or should be.

you've hit on a point i have always wondered about- don't 12.4, 13.6, 14.8, 16.9 X 28 tires all have the same height and roll out distance????

No they don't. I have been searching specs on the tires and while there isn't much difference in the rolling circumference there is some between those sizes. That's why I would like to see what Mahindra says about over run specs and such on these tractors. If a one inch taller tire keeps the tractor within specs of allowable overrun then it is possible just to step up to a 14.8 or 16.9 ag tire.

I had a chance to compare ags once. I had some Firestone's and then put on BKT's. I use mine for skidding and snow removal. The Firestone's were of the "rounded shoulder" type typical of many ag's. The BKT's were narrower and squarer. They were also a bit taller. I felt the BKT's offered superior traction for the work I do. They just seemed to "hunker in" and grab. I have Titans on my current tractor and I do not think they are as good as the BKT's as the Titan's are wider with more floatation. For traction with how I use my tractor, I'd rather have a taller , narrower tire. For me they provide the better traction.
