Hi all, newby here!
Picked up a new to me LTD 244 dump trailer, at least i think it is.
It is in Ok shape. I'm trying to figure out if the wheels and hubs are stock.
I purchased new tires because I like the large size (6.9-9.00) for going through the woods (I should have just got new style tires and wheels), they are a little smaller and cheaper when compared to new 6.9-9 tires . But that is water under the bridge now....
The attached pics show a hub with pretty wallowed out bushings. I'm debating to push out the old bronze bushings and insert nylon bushings.. If nylon works on over the road leaf springs they should handle a 10mph (tops) garden trailer. The bushings in the other hub are in better shape. I'll include pics of the trailer at a later date if anyone is interested.
Any one have any thoughts on the nylon bushings? The axle is 3/4"

Mike

No experience with nylon bushings but would try them.

Would like to see pictures of the trailer.

Whoops! I thought I had pics here at home. I'm in Mass (still working for a living) trailer is in Maine (where I will be when I'm done working).
I'll get them up soon

On ironer machines at a commercial cleaning company we used nylon blocks for bearings on a lot of the feed rollers. We'd just buy bulk material and only took a few minutes to bore the correct size hole for whatever shaft we needed. The machines were fitted with a certain size box to fit the bearing into. These rollers were slow moving but in a hot atmosphere where greased bearings would have a short life because of the heat.

There's a ton of different nylon, plastic, mica, and lots of other names I don't recall suitable for different temps and properties. All of them were fairly long lasting and easy to machine to any size. You can buy pieces at such places as McMaster Carr. I used a piece on my tractor for my clutch lever to slide on to keep from squeaking. I also use a piece on a 16" saw blade to eliminate wobble.
