I've got a 2006 Pontiac Torrent for a bang around in ride for the higher fuel mileage and to save miles on my 2017 F250. I've been looking around for a set of used 17 inch wheels for the snow tires.
Research online shows that my current wheels have a positive 46mm offset. I see on the local Facebook classifieds that a friend of mine has a pair of 2006 Cadillac CTS wheels, same size and bolt pattern but with 51mm offset according to the website I checked with. Also, the website shows my current wheels as 7 inch width. The Caddy wheels are 7.5.
Will this 5mm difference in the offset and half inch width cause me any problem? I can get the wheels for $20. Good enough for winter use if they'll work.

For that price, try them... I doubt the difference is enough to make an issue arise. Bolt them up, check clearance to brakes, turn wheels lock to lock checking fender and wheel well clearance.

Wheel Offset Calculator Just crank the front wheels both ways and make sure there’s enough clearance. There should be.

Many cars are “hub centric” which means the rim bears on the hub, not just the lugs. So make sure the center hub is the same diameter. If the Cadillac hub is the same, good. If larger, you can get a spacer. If smaller, they’ll have to be machined, which is unlikely to be economic.

Both vehicles are made by GM, same year, same bolt pattern, very close in size... bet they work just fine.

Thanks guys. I was guessing that with only a 5mm difference in offset and having the same bolt patter we'd be OK. I thought they were 7.5 wide but he measured them at 7. So for $20 I'm giving it a shot.

Originally I was just going to run the Cadillac wheels for snow tires. I checked the same page as you cited and found a 5mm difference in offset but didn't think that would be an issue. My wheels are 7 inch and the Cadillac wheels were shown as 7.5 on that website. But the seller says they measured 7 inches.
It's become moot now. Went to a tire shop managed by a friend. Got my snows removed and had the summer tires installed onto the original wheels. Then he comes and tells me that the Cadillac wheels I was told were 17 inch and was going to mount the snow tires on are actually 16.
I called a local yard that's part of a national parts network and bought a pair of correct Pontiac wheels that'll be shipped here in 2 days.
I could have taken the Cadillac wheels back to the guy I bought them from, we've known each for years and both retired from the same place. But I only paid $20 so I'll clean them up a little and list them myself. Maybe I'll make $10 or $15 bucks on them.
