Somewhere on the forum, in the past few months, I saw a drawing showing the dimensions of a wheel spacer that would fit a
New Holland CUT. I have a friend that is a machinist and he said that if I got him the dimensions, he would give me a price on
making a set of 3 inch extenders. It is a six bolt wheel. If anyone remembers the post or has a link to it, it would be appreciated.
Thanks
John

Yes. that is a good photo. The one I was looking for was a mechanical drawing that had
all the dimensions written in. I was actually looking at those Motorsport spacers but wonder if
the aluminum is as good as the steel ones. I don't know how strong aluminum is compared to steel.
My friend is a machinist and has a huge lathe in his shop. He told me to get the specs and he would give me a "good" price on making them. It may be that I saw the drawing on some other forum as I have searched and just cannot find it on this one. I guess I could haul the
tractor over to his shop, take off the wheel and have him measure it. That would be a hassle however as he lives
about 40 miles from me.

For the purposes of a wheel spacer, aluminum is just fine.

degeesaman,

I just looked up aluminum on the web. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium_alloy
I had no idea that there were so many different alloys with so many different characteristics.
I would guess that the 6000 or 7000 series aluminum alloys would be as good or better than steel.
Wonder which would cost more? or be easier to machine?
I think I feel another web search coming on!

6061t6 is the cheapest its soft the turnings are stringy 2011ts is the next cheapest chips break realy good then 2024t4 harder more expencive 7075 very hard and most expencive all is easey to machine but neither one is stronger or better than steel.

You're most likely to find a shop with a piece of 6061 T6 laying around. That is versatile stuff. Alternately, I'd also consider A-36 or 1018 carbon steel. For the size and quantity of wheel spacers the cost will not be in the chosen material.
