I mainly just lurk here but I wanted to pass along just how much stability something as simple as 2 inch wheel spacers provide.
I have a large slope in back thats quite steep that the geography forces me to traverse sideways and even though my old GT6000 had rimguard filled ag tires it was always on the brink of disaster and if I wasnt damned careful I could feel the upslope tire begin to lift - scaring the **** out of me on a routine basis. By sheer chance I came across a video of a dude putting spacers on his GT and thought it was a good idea.
Put them on the GT6000 and what a difference! No wheel lift at all pretty much no matter what I did.
Shortly after though the crappy Kohler Courage engine in the GT6000 threw a rod and destroyed itself, since I wanted a locking dif anyway I got a Husq TS354XD.
Stock it didnt feel as tippy as the old mower (which would lift a tire unless I leaned way over) did before I put filled tires on it but it's close - probably because of the heavy fabricated 'Clear Cut' deck adding more weight down low. Then I added the wheel spacers and it's FAR more stable than the old mower ever got even with filled tires. I can feel the mowers weight shift but it never got to the point of lifting a tire. Then I added the wheel weights and now it's like I'm on rails no matter what I do on that slope. I was going to fill these tires too but I'm not going to bother now.
You wouldnt believe how much of a relief it is to not fear for your life ever time you mow the bloody grass.
I was so impressed that I added 3" spacers to my CUT, which also scared the **** out of me every time I go back and forth on that dang hill carrying a load and the increase in stability was HUGE and its a lot more sure-footed when going back and forth with a load of dirt or gravel. It's not as stable as the GT but I carry the bucket higher without feeling the upslope tire starting to lose contact.
Thought I'd just pass it along.
