Looking for opinions on adding wheel weights to my R-1s.

I use my 1610D for double duty. In the winter I have been doing some land clearing and dirt work with it. Then in the summer it is pretty much used for brush hogging and soon for finish mowing.

I just pruchased a set of turf tires for it that I will use for the mowing duties but I am also trying to sort out how best to increase traction when I am using a box blade, root rack, ect.....

Ideas? Anybody built any weights for these? I know I can add fluid, but since I will be swapping tires at least twice a year I think some type of bolt on weight would be better.

Thanks for your input....

I went to a local machine shop for heavy industry here and happened upon a pallet of steel disks 15 inches in diam and 3 inches thick in their scrap area. They were beautifully cut, either with laser or CNC gas, for what I don't know. We have hydro dams as well as pulp mills in the area and obviously they needed 15 inch holes for something. I bought a pair of them for scrap price, $.25 a lb. Drilled them for the rim holes and also drilled the plates to fit over the wheel nuts. Built a couple of temporary ramps out of wood and rolled them up so I could bolt them in place. They are heavy!

If you have any industry in the area, I would check for scrap pieces (flywheels, final drive gears) or mistakes, (manufacturers make some very unfortunate mistakes and it all goes to scrap). There are a lot of big, heavy round plate or castings out there with your name on them, all available at scrap price.

I made some for mine several years ago. They have worked out great. Each weight is just 50 pounds. I could take them off at one time by myself.
