Shortly after purchasing my tractor, I replaced the tires with turf. I would like to put the old tires on wheels so I can play in the snow. Is there a JD conversion? Don't care what color they are as long as they fit the tire and tractor. Any help?
Thanks Dan

I don't know of any, Sorry.

Might give Lens12 a call or talk to other parts suppliers.

People do like to keep them and often buy additional rims and add turf tires.

If this is any help at all, the following models are the same size as your YM1401 500-12 X 8-16:

YM1300, YM1300D, YM1301, YM1301D, and (maybe) the YM155, YM155D.

That's funny. I actually take the R1's off for the winter and put turfs on for snowblower work on my 155D. In my case the driveway is paved and fairly flat and I seem to slide around less with turfs. I suppose if I were to set out in 20" of powder I'd want an ag tread.

I was wondering the same thing about my larger model, any JD/Yanmar models that would swap?

As I've mentioned a couple times on various forums, the stk wheels/tires on my machine and the tires are slightly over their rating with nothing in the bucket. Also thing I'd like to give a set of R4's a try.

I have seen Chevy rims used for the rear. The bolt pattern is off , but a rat tail file was all it took to make them fit. If you used a spoke wheel the flat steel center would be easier to file fit than a stock wheel with the taper for the lug nuts.

If you have a few bucks to spare, Hey Wheel will make you any thing you want. I have used him several times to put Industrial tires on these tractors. 785-594-3441

What part of the world are you, and what size do you need? I plan on selling my 18" wheels next year, but could be talked into getting rid of them now if it works out.

Sorry for the delay...out of town for awhile. I live in Green Bay, WI 54313. Plowed snow the other day with the Ford 1100 and a grader blade. The most fun on a tractor in a long time. LET IT SNOW...

Thanks...Dan

Mag wheels for the Yanmar? I don't know man, the neighbors point at me enough is it is. Are you refering to a standard Chevy steel wheel? I would prefer an OEM or similar wheel.

Thanks...Dan

The Chevy six bolt pattern is so close a rat tail file will make them fit. The white spoke wheel is flat steel and will work better. The stock Chevy wheel will fit, but the bolt holes are tapered and will be a little harder. Then there is always Hey Wheel.

Mickey Fx,

I too was in the same situation that you are in with my YM2310D with the overloaded standard 6x14 R1 tires on the front when I got my FEL. First time I tried to pick up a relatively light load the front tires were pretty much flattened.

Too make a long story short I have finally solved this problem with a set of John Deere turf wheels for the JD790 on my tractor. All the dimensions for disc offset, pilot diameter, bolt circle and hole size are an exact match for the 5JAx14 wheels that came on my tractor. With a set of Titan R4 Trac Loader tires on the wheels I now have a 2000lb/tire capacity on my front. The front now has a greater capacity than the 11.2x24 R1 tires on the rear at 1650lb/tire. An added benefit is that the front now has a wider stance which should help with stability.

The JD wheels were $125 each. I contacted Heywheel and they told me that no one made 7 inch wide rims in the US and the closest he could come to for the Titan tires was a 6 inch wide rim for $99 each. I went with the JD wheels since they were the exact size recommended for the tires. The Titan tires were $75 or so each from Miller Tire.

Your tractor may have the same factory wheels as mine so if you are interested the following are the part numbers for the R4 wheels and tires.

John Deere - M802865 7JAx14WDC
Titan - 412379 25x8.50-14NHS TRAC LOADER TL

The attached picture shows what the tires/wheels look like on my tractor. I'm still researching R4 tire and wheel sizes for the rear.
