My new Berta snow blower for by BCS 852 arrived not with the expected side skids but with rear wheels which can be be replaced by shoe skids. In what conditions would I use the two options?
My BCS blower only has the shoes, but I rarely use them. I normally have them raised and let the blade scrape surfaces clean. I sometimes use the skids when I blow trails clear through the lawn areas. I could see the wheels being used for that, and also for stamped concrete or flagstone areas that you might not want the shoes scratching up a surface.
Like Ford850 said, I'd say the wheels are good in all situations, and the skids are good for situations where you don't mind if the surface you're cleaning gets marked up.
