Tractor
2003 NH TN70A
I bought a used TN70A, 168 hours. Now it has 308 hrs (less than one year).
I paid 22K for it. 140 hrs x 50/hr= 7K.

So, in another 300 hrs will the tractor have "paid" for itself?

figure in being able to use it when you want to, not having to stack jobs till you can justify rental, the look on your old mans face when he is running a bushhog for thr first time, the look on a daughters face when she pulls 3 bushes out of the ground for the first time, the pride in ownership, the stress relief provided while bushhogging chest high brush, and countless others and my tractor paid for itself in about a week!!!

AGREED...

the fact that it's in my garage just waiting for me to jump on at any time on any day (even a Sunday or holiday) is payback enough for me and I only got 6 hours on it!!!!! :D

Payback is instant. You get on and start working the land, sun on your face, wind in your hair - in some cases skin:) and the phones stop ringing, people stop bugging you for answers, all other decision except where to tractor next all disappear.

For some it's a fancy sports car, for a nice resort, other it may be boating, or skiing, but for me, it's the peace of the tractor, and you just can't put a price on that.

To me, the day it's delivered...

Frankly, my tractor is as much of a toy as a useful tool. When I say useful...operating my 790 is a stress reliever. The work I do is just an added benefit.

I will be glad to have it paid off though!

The work that it has provided, in my opinion, has paid for the tractor. The enjoyment and stress relief is a bonus that can't be measured in financial terms.

Every hour I spend on it is money well spent.
