when have you used non-540 PTO?

I have all 540 attachments like a mower and tiller and phd and my 2nd gear in pto at 2600 is that speed.

However when I am running my pto pump powered backhoe or the phd I run the pto in 3rd and just over an idle where the 540 is on my tach.

Maybe 1500 rpm thats nice not having the engine wound up sitting basically in one spot all day uses a lot less fuel also.

I dont have one yet so this is pure speculation but when I get my pto gen I hope to be able to run it in 3rd also with the engine at a lower rpm time will tell.

I use my PTO generator in 2nd at about 1500rpm engine speed (3 cyl 1510) for low-load applications (power tools). Using 3rd puts the engine speed down too far to be able to maintain rpms with any kind of useful load.

I use the mid Pto for a mower. It runs at 2600 rpm.

I use 2nd pto for finishing till and it fluffs up the soil and leaves the ground very smooth

I dont have a Yanmar, but I use it for light tasks as mentioned and pumps and 540 implements that I need to overdrive a little. Tilling fer sher. I just did haying and wed had so much rain over spring that moisture was being keep in by the thick grass. I couldnt do anything but clog the haybine at 540, but at about 650 it worked fine. Brought in about 1200 bales.
