Hi all I have been reading these post for better than a year now. I'm ready now to buy before summer. I'm going toget a 2210 with MMM and Loader and snow blower. then add from there. What I am wondering is when is the best time of year to buy.
Thank You

I would think right now is a great time. You might get a good deal on an '04 model that needs to be sold to make room for '05s. Also, I would imagine tractors are kind of like boats and motorcycles.... they sell a whole lot more of them during spring and summer. You're dealer might be ready to deal!

Good time for everything except the snowblower - they will probably want full list on that.

I have always thought the best time to buy a vehicle of any type (truck, auto, tractor, etc) is very late in the month and very late in the year. IMO the ideal period is the week after Christmas, everyone is broke and few people are at the dealerships. I got my 4210 package at a very good price the last day of the year, there were practically no other customers at the place that day. Salespeople like to make a big sale near the end of the month and/or year to boost their quota and if you do your homework in advance it will help you recognize a great deal if you are offered one.

The tractor and car dealerships are completely different. It doesn't matter if it's December or June at the tractor dealerships. They sell all year long. They sell in the winter as much because that's when the farmers are coming in during their slow time to make plans for equipment for the next year. Also at the tractor dealerships they get financing differently. For Deere when they get a new tractor or they get a trade-in they have a year to sell the tractor before they start paying interest on it. Until then Deere pays it. Also as older models are sitting on the lots they may get special deals from Deere to move them.

Its true that Tractor dealers and car dealers are different. There really is no 04 vs 05 model discounts. However, in Canada at least (US is usually the same or better) there are some really good John Deere incentives on compact tractors right now. My programs end Feb 28/05 - so you might want to look into it before then. Also, 2210's typically don't have JD incentives on them, but right now we do have one. Check your area dealer, they might also.

The best time to buy is when the CFO gives you the go ahead. Then move very fast before she changes her mind.

Now Im not rich but I am very happy so here's what an old farmer told me one time . Doesnt matter what time of year it is when the deal feels rite to you buy, cause there will always be one cheaper somewhere else in a couple of weeks. So when it feels rite do it.

If I recall someone mentioned a 7% price increase next year. You may want to check if and when it is going into effect.

Any time of the year is a good time if you could negotiate a 15-20% discount off MSRP. An even better time is when you know JD will be discontinuing a certain model. Dealers will want to move these older models off their lots before the new tractors come in.
