When it\'s time for service.....?

When it's time for my 50 hour service, do you think my dealer would have a problem if I purchased the oils & possibly the filters myself and then took them along with the tractor back to my dealer for them to do the labor?

Is this discurtious towards the dealer? I just want to make sure I get the fluids that "I" want in the tractor and not whatever he has on the shelf. And if I save a little money along the way that's an added bonus. However, if he has the products I want, or can get them, then I'm not opposed to giving him the sale. Again, just want what I want, if you know what I mean. BTW, I haven't checked with dealer to see what fluids they carry yet as I have not made it to 50 hrs yet.

Save any problems, ask him if he has the fluids you want… if so by them from him, if not ask if you can supply your choice. His answer should be your guide at to how much you are valued as a customer. If you were doing this yourself you would be shopping for the fluids of your choice… KennyV.

This is one of them things that truly depends on the dealer. Some dealers don't mind, then there are some that will not let it happen for anything. I have even seen dealers that would allow you to bring everything but the filter. They would require that you use their filter. Each dealer is different. Just remember that the money that they get from the shop and parts are where most of their income is from. Call your service manger to see what their policy is?

I'm really not trying to take $$ out of dealer's pocket here. As a matter of fact, I would prefer to buy it from the dealer. Just makes it easier than me having to chase down everything. I guess I just need to let him know what oils, etc that I want and see if he stocks it or can get it. It shouldn't be a problem, he has been great so far and seems very service oriented. I'm sure he'll oblige. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
