Food plot (corn stubble) has plenty of 6"+ weeds now. We need to spray (glyphosate), mow, till and plant (corn and/or beans). I'm not sure if we should mow first, then spray - or - spray now (to get full contact on the leaves), then mow after a week or so.

What order should we use?

I would spray then mow. But either way tilling will stir up seeds and they will grow so ideally till, wait for seeds to start growing then spray if time will allow.

I suggest you spray first to get the most amount of glyphosate on the leaves. However, if your weeds are really tall and thick, it may be better to mow, then spray in a week or 2 when you get some fresh tender growth. The worst way would be to spray too soon after you mow.

Probably best to spray and no till. Agree, once you till you are replanting seeds. It's taken me years to wear out our seed bank

You have to allow at least a week for the Glyphosate to do it's job unless your are planting 'roundup ready' hybrid corn. If I were you, I'd stubble beat it, then chisel it after the a week or so. Keep in mind that hybrid (if you are planting hybrid corn), the time from germ to maturity is arround 45 -60 days and I have no idea where you are at so fitting as well as planting will entirely depend on location.

I plant roundup ready corn myself simply because latent weed control has no impact on it. FYI, you can also purchase roundup ready sweet corn and I do as it makes weeding the garden much easier...lol

What variety of Roundup ready sweet corn do you plant? I haven't been able to find one that is truly Roundup ready.

I'd have to go look at a sack in the shop and I'm in the house presently. I will say it's very good eating and my wife shucked a pile of it and froze it last fall. It's right up there with Ambrosia SE.

As a rule, I don't spray Roundup at all. I use generic instead and mostly 24D (B) as it's compatible with vernal alfalfa as in very little detrimental dieback. It's also expensive and there is only one maker of it here in the States.

I stick with vernal because one, my customer wants it and 2 because hybrid can and will get out of hand.

Thanks. The SIL is in charge of seed. Pretty sure he said it was "leftover" Roundup Ready seed, so we can spray it again later. I think I'll spray now, as the weeds are "only" 6" or so...

For the spray to work, the plant needs to be actively growing. The leaves need to suck in the chemicals.
