Where Are The Best Prices On New Trailers?

Hi

I have to make a trip out to south central MN area from MA in the next six weeks or so to pick up an old combine . I had planned on towing out and back with a 16 foot 1200 lb equipment trailer. The fellow that will be disassembling and loading the machine thinks it might be safer to bring a 18 foot trailer, which I don't have.

I am thinking maybe I can find a better deal on a new trailer outside of New England and maybe I should buy one out of state to save money and pick it up along the way.

I am concerned with finding a reliable dealer and am having trouble figuring out where to start looking.

Are there large pricing differences from state to state or region to region? Is there an area that is known for the best pricing?

Does this idea seem reasonable?

What do dealers pay per mile for delivery? ( I should be able to save that at a minimum one would think.)

I have "heard" that the midwest has the best prices, but can't verify. If you are coming through the chicagoland area I can give you a pretty well known and reputable dealer, but I don't know how their prices compare.

Sikeston MO has several trailer manufacturers. The economy shut down several of them but several are still building trailers.

Since you will probably be traveling across I-80 and the Indiana Toll Rd, I would first suggest you check this website- " autorv.com ". This publication and online advertiser covers the Indiana Ohio area and will give you an idea of what is available and pricing on trailers. This area is very competitive between the dealerships and offers some of the best pricing you will find.

I have had experience with MSI Trailers in Elkhart and Ed's Auto Inc in Union City, Mi and have been satisfied with those transactions. Good luck!!!

If crossing I-80 through pennsylvania check out Econo-trailer/Dively. You can buy direct at their factory (shop). I picked an 18' car hauler about 9 years ago for way cheaper than I could've gotten one at the dealer. I actually ended up selling it a few years later for more than I paid for it. I know their prices have gone up, but I think they discount for pickup since they will deliver.
