Check out PJ trailers About Us - PJ Trailers - depending on how you go you could drive right by the plants. You can save a big chunk of change getting from the dealer in the plant town. Use there web site to find a dealer near you to order, and pick up at the plant too.. A minor problem will be temp tags though.

BTW - check on the combine width to be sure you get a deck wide enough to haul - my guess you will need a 102" deck.

PS be sure to check the trailer GVW and your truck GVW if your over 26000 combined you need a CDL. PJ will de-rate a trailer to keep you under. No modifications needed, they just sticker it different.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the replies. Some of them that came in after I made the trip would have come in handy.

I bit the bullet and put a bunch of time in on craigslist IA. I lucked out and found a two year old PJ 20' deck over with probably no more then 500 miles, came across it the day it went up for sale, offered full price (4200.00) and the seller was willing to hold it with a 200.00 deposit for the ten days till I arrived. ( He said he'd had a number of calls but everyone wanted to dicker on the price.)

It worked out great and the whole trip went off without a hitch. Eighty hours from Southeast MA to Fairmont MN and back. Picked up a old clipper 2b fanning mill in eastern IA, the trailer in Carroll IA and then pretty much straight north to the combine. Spent a night in a hotel, finished breaking down the combine and loaded it then next morning and straight back. 2005 F350, gas, burned 1075.70 in fuel, lost track of the tolls. Took one of the the dogs too.
