When you guys build projects using forks what are some sources you are getting JUST the forks from? I have the other goodies but not the forks. I've seen some great looking projects here and it makes me realize how much I could use some forrks (whether w/ my FEL or drop the bucket and use the quick connects I got with the tractor).

thanks,
Keith

I got my pair at a local forklift repair place called Forklifts Plus. Make sure if you buy used ones that you stand them up and check for straightness of the forks, because it's hard to tell if they are bent when they are laying on the ground. I was able to pick through quite a few sets to find a pair that matched and had the latches on them.

I also went to a forklift service company. Talk to the service manager and have some dead presidents in your pocket, no checks or plastic.

When the forks get "thin" on the bottom, they take them out of service due to OSHA requirements. But there is still plenty of life in them for our relatively light duty use.

Happy shopping! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As already mentioned, forks have to be taken out of service when they get worn on the ends too much. Mine "appeared" outside my shop one day courtesy of my neighbor who worked construction. Some payback for all that tractor borrowing until he purchased his own I guess. I just chopsawed them to a shorter length (about 30") to get some "meat" out near the ends and besides one of the pair was several inches longer before trimming (probably started life as 36"). They work great for prying rocks out of the ground among other things. They really aren't going to be hurt by the kinds of loading a CUT can do.
