I have a Kubota B3300SU with a BH77 backhoe. A few weeks ago two of the valves had to be rebuilt. Now the backhoe looses power when it gets warm. Mostly when clawing the bucket. I check the fluid and there is none on the dip stick so I top off the fluid. After using the backhoe for about 15 min the power is gone again and so is the fluid. I also get a jerking in the arm when raising or lowering it. I have checked and checked and checked some more but can not find a leak anywhere from front to rear. Any one have any idea where the fluid is going?

Welcome to the forum.

Assuming it runs off the rear remotes, chances are the trans fluid level is down and it is staying in the tractor. Most likely the pickup for the hydraulics is at the fluid level line and as the tractor shakes the fluid gets sloshed around having the pump suck up some fluid, then some air and so forth. I'm no hydraulic guy so others will probably have better thoughts on this occurrence.

If it's not leaking to the outside of the tractor the only other possible place would be the engine crankcase.

Engine oil level is fine. I would expect there to be a high level if it was getting to the engine...

Willl is correct. If you are losing hydraulic oil and it is not on the ground, it is going past the seal on the engine driven hydraulic pump on the right side of the engine. Check your engine oil level. If you are losing as much as what you are indicating, there should be oil running out the dipstick tube.

Do you have a lock on the tph control? That lever should be locked in the down position when the backhoe is attached.

It turned out to be the tph lever. It was in the center position. Thanks to all who provided assistance.

So I am a little daft here. How does the position of the 3pt lever have anything to do with disappearing oil. Where was the oil going?
