Kubota B2400; Kubota B1750 with heated cab
The 2-spool control valve which operates the front power angle plow blade on my Kubota B1750 has no float position -- it has both an integral power beyond port with a hose that runs back into the hydraulic block to run the 3pt hitch, and the normal outlet (tank) port. I want float on the blade, so I'm replacing it with a 3-spool valve with float, which provides me with an extra spool for future expansion. I ordered the new valve from an eBay vendor, together with the power beyond adapter sleeve. Unfortunately, the adapter sleeve was just dropped in the box, and there is no diagram or instructions telling me which port to screw it in. The vendor specializes in hoses, but does not seem to know much about the valve itself, a Chief 220-959 -- he made a suggestion on which port is correct, and is trying to get a diagram from his distributor to confirm. That diagram may never come.

There are 6 working ports on top of the valve with red plastic caps -- I understand those. With the handles nearest you, on the left side is a port labeled "P" which I believe is the pressure (input) port -- it has a red plastic cap. Right above it is a port with a metal plug -- I'm guessing that this is common with the P port, correct?. On the right side of the valve is a port labeled "TN" with a metal plug which I believe is the low pressure tank (return) port. Just forward of this port is another side-facing port with a red plastic cap -- this is currently the best guess for where the PB adapter goes. Just above this is an upward facing port with a metal cap.

Can anyone take a look at this valve and tell me what port the PB adapter should screw into? Is it obvious, or do I really need that diagram from the manufacturer?
Thanks in advance.

Look inside the ports and the PB adapter well only seal in one. My guess that it is the one on the side of the outlet side.

You're right, only one port has the inner machined taper which mates with the inner o-ring on the tip of the PB adapter! It's the one facing sideways on the right with the metal plug labeled "TN". Not the port the vendor suggested. Those metal plugs must have been installed by Popeye on one of his better days, but it was worth the hernia to get this settled. Thanks a lot!

This unit seems to be made by Bailey International here is there on line catalogue.

Mabbe you could call them and have them send you a diagram of the unit.

It is probably the red plugged port on the end with two ports.

You're right -- it's from the Bailey catalog, page 69, model 220-959. I could have saved $30 by ordering direct, but I have not meddled with hydraulic stuff before and was not aware of them. No big deal. The Bailey web site offers no link to any diagram, so I called and the nice lady is sending one by email. Bailey seems to have good customer service.

But Leejohn was right on -- there is only one port which will accommodate the o-ring seal on the tip of the PB adapter plug, and that was the port facing sideways on the right side of the valve (looking at it with the handles nearest you) with the metal plug -- the port marked "TN". All three of the ports on the right side share a common fluid passage, but this one has the machined tapered seal inside which blocks the common passage and presumably taps only the high pressure side. You just have to know what to look for.

There is no substitute for experience. Thanks.

Final clarification: just got the diagram from Bailey, and it makes it very clear. The marking I had called "TN" on the right side of the valve (see pic which I posted earlier) was actually identifying 2 separate port types, a "T" (tank or output, dual port towards the front of the valve) and an "N" port nearest the handles which is the port you use to insert a sleeve adapter to modify the valve for power beyond or closed center operation. NOW I GET IT!
