Where have you seen the best fireworks in your life ?

The end of our dock up at camp. Fireworks are legal in NH. My kid works at the local Atlas fireworks store. I am amazed at what you can legally buy. The funny thing is that as I filled my cart with enough firepower to launch a satellite there are posted signs proclaiming bottlerockets are illegal in NH

We spent a good bit of money and had an impressive show of our own. Some of the displays were truly stunning.

1978, RAF Chicksands, England. Every year, the base was opened for the locals to attend our Independence Day celebration, great fun, great fireworks, great setting. Fireworks were shot off on the football field against a backdrop of a centuries old Priory building (said to be haunted).

Sadly, at the same celebration in 1979, we had an A10 air show and one of the jets crashed during the demonstration just off the base.

I might be off by a year or so but don't think so, it's been a long time!

I've never been to them but on TV the Washington DC and New York shows look colossal.

I am getting sick of semi-commercial displays put on by neighbors, though. Our dogs are terrified of the things and it has been one night after another of that stuff going off until 11:30 or so. Do these people think they live out in the middle of nowhere? Or that everyone enjoys explosions that rattle the windows and drive pets insane?

We were taking care of the neighbors' dog who is even worse than ours. On the night of the 4th, we had him sedated so he more or less slept through it all. But, the night of the 5th he wasn't and nearly destroyed his enclosure. We didn't think the 5th was fair game for fireworks but were wrong. The 6th...encore performance. He ended up losing a couple teeth, and cut his tongue and lips.

I'm not as enthused about fireworks as I once was.
