I have a Jinma 354 and discovered this wire taped up laying
on top of the engine. It is green with a lug on it . Traced back
to the key switch. Could this be why my gage cluster works
sometimes ? Could anyone check there engine for me to see
where it go's. It comes out of the harness near the rear of the motor
and is near the three sensers that have black wires in the photo.
The 3 sensers are wired together but have no wire leading to
anywhere else. Are these are preheat plugs and How come its been
running with out anything conected to these for two years ?
Thanks
Lee

It appears to be combined with a blue wire at the key switch. What is the function of the blue wire? That may hold a clue. :)

Not the least familiar with your machine. BUT. I would check it for voltage under various condition. Normal running, various lights on, and so forth. May well turn out that it's a ground wire. Simple check to narrow things down--what can it reach/

Bob ,
It is not the blue with the green wire it is the lowest green
wire in the photo ,and it has no voltage with key on or off ,or
under running conditions . It may be a ground wire but it has
a travel of about 6 inches round . Just wish I knew someone
close I could peak under there hood.
Thanks for your Ideas guys:confused2::confused2:

My guess is its for glow plugs which your engine appears to have but some how did not get hooked up. You can check with a volt meter but I think it will be hot only when the key is held in the pre-heat detente.

Yep, looks like glowplug power to me also. Are there any number labels on it? at any rate, if it is the glowplug wire, as Chris said it should have +12V measured to ground when the key is in the preheat position(between on and start). That is of course if the 30A heat fuse is in place and good. If it is powered at that key position, you can remove one of the thumbscrews on the bussbar connecting the 3 glowplug posts and connect it there. Then you will have preheat available to ease cold weather starting...

If you have a continuity checker or an ohmmeter, I'd suggest checking it to see if it is in fact at ground potential. If it is, you can ignore it. If not, you can then proceed to trace it to where it comes from. That may give a clue to what it might be for. I seem to recall a non-connected green wire on my 304 Jinma when i first got it, but I don't recall if I ever did anything with it. Things all work fine so no big deal.

No magnetos here. Highly unlikely it's a ground wire connected to the key switch.
Check the bus bar on the glow plugs like others have mentioned, see if there is a wire attached to it.
Take your test meter and connect between the green wire and ground - turn the key switch to pre-heat and see what the meter does.

That looks just like the glow plug wire on my 354.

Am I seeing the picture correctly that you don't have a brass bar connecting the glow plugs, but instead there is black wire going from plug to plug? Are they currently connected to anything or just each other? There is a knurled knob on top of each glow plug, the wire should go under the nearest one.

Thanks ,
To all of your Responses ,the green wire was
not ever hooked up on my 354. It is the 12v
power to the glow plugs. Should be easier to start
this winter.
